Good friends!

How dull life would be without all the wonderful people we meet along the way!!  Some stay for a while and become a huge part of your life, others you meet only for a day or so and they move on,  yet leave a wonderful ‘forever’ memory.  Yet others come and go, when you are together it is as if you having always been together, even if it has been years since you were last together.  We met Ken and Margot here at Holiday Park Resort at least 10 years ago.  We were drawn together by our love of doxies.  You may remember reading that they lost their darling girl just this past February.  The great news it that a new baby is soon to come into their lives.

Meet Hilde the fourth. She is only 4 weeks old but will be here by the end of June. We are ALL eagerly awaiting here arrival.

We have not seen Margot and Ken for close to two years.  We have travelled to Mexico a few times together, met in various locations within the USA and shared many years here in Kelowna.  A few years ago they bought a lovely condo in Victoria and are no longer fulltimers although they still winter in their RV in Arizona.  Last summer they chose to stay in Victoria so it was a big reunion last night.  They only arrived on Wednesday but gourmet chef that she is Margot was eager to have us over.

Always a challenge on a small RV kitchen!

Caeli was wondering where her plate was.

It was a very relaxing evening.

...to great forever friends...

Yes Ken it was delicious, worth the 2 pounds that showed up on my scale today.

Enough already!

Even the girls were relaxed and happy.  It was wonderful to see Carmeh snuggling into her Aunty Margot.  Thanks for a great evening folks!

A year ago today…

…I made my very first post on my very first blog.  We have travelled for all of  our 24 years together and once the computer age caught up with us, I emailed travelogues to family and friends.  Between server problems and poor computer connections in Mexico I was often forced to reenter over 100 email addresses over and over due to link failures, never mind uploading all the applicable photos.  I decided that my time was more precious and so the blog was born.  I emailed everyone and let them choose to read it or not.  I have lost some readers who prefer to have an email arrive in their inbox as opposed to checking a blog site daily or now & then.  The travelogues only came out every few weeks as opposed to almost daily blog posts.

Somewhere along the way I seem to have picked up several new friends.  In one year alone, I have had over 24,200 people check my blog.  Thank you readers!  I hope I have entertained you along the way as well as passed on some information.  It has been a huge learning curve for me and now working with photos I have a much greater appreciation for Colin’s work.  There is never a day that I don’t learn something new.  At first this blog was meant to keep people in the know of what ‘s up in our lives, hence the title 5C’s Que Pasa.

Who are the 5C’s you ask?  There is me, Contessa, my husband Colin, Carmeh who will be eight in August and six year old Caeli and our parrot Cheikka who is a Green-cheeked Amazon.  Our names all start with the letter ‘C’ so hence the 5C’s was born.  Sometimes we are referred to simply as ‘the C’s’.  We have been known as the 3C’s, the 4C’s and then when we adopted Cheikka in Acapulco a few years ago we then became the 5C’s.  Unfortunately for tragic personal reasons we had to give Cheikka away last summer but because she is always in our hearts we will remain the 5C’s.  Soon one day I will share our parrots’ story with you.

Caeli ( always in a pink collar ), Carmeh ( in green ) and Cheikka

A photo of the 5C’s is on my profile at the right side of the screen.

As you know we are pro Mexico but I do try to show both sides of the story.  Last year when I started my blog I primarily portrayed preparing for a 5 month stay in Mexico including safety, cost of insurance & health insurance, etc. and step by step how to get into Mexico at the border and how to cope with RV travel in Mexico, not to mention the difficulties we had reentering the USA this past March.  I also posted about our 5 month stay in Mexico and the benefits of living on the Isla.  Now we are home, so I will just go with the flow and as things crop up re travel in Mexico I will share that with you.  Perhaps because of Colin’s business I tend to gravitate towards many many photos.  If you have any specific requests please email me.  I know that I have helped many with their decision to RV to Mexico and have been happy to meet with them while in Mexico.  Many have emailed and asked about just flying into Mazatlan, I am happy to be there for you, for anything.  We have shared details of our home here in Kelowna and I am happy to say that a friend we met in Mazatlan is now moving here to our RV park in Kelowna.  Life is good.

One of the rewards of writing a blog are the comments from those who read it.  Not just my posts but all bloggers….we all love to get comments!  Some days when there are no comments you wonder if you were truly that boring or perhaps even worse.  It is not difficult to make a comment, you don’t even have to use your own name.  All you have to do is click on the comment button at the bottom of a post and fill in the blanks.  The only thing that becomes public is your name (real or not) and what you write as a comment.  You don’t always have to agree with a post and sometimes various commenters get a good discussion going.  I often but not always will respond to your comment in another comment so be sure to come back and check on the comments later.  The only difficult thing to do is the fill out the security code often referred to as the ‘captcha code’.  You just copy what you see in the colored box below and then hit the submit comment button.  It really is that easy.  Be sure to give it a try one day.

Into the CAPTCHA Code box you would type in LMTF, please note that the letters are often capitals and most be entered as a capital. Sometimes there will be a number to enter instead of a letter.

Another thing, please feel free to share my blog with others.  It isn’t private and if you feel someone would enjoy the read please forward the link to 5C’s Que Pasa. I really enjoying writing this blog and I do hope you get some pleasure by reading it.

Consequences

It had to happen eventually….just too too much rain yesterday!

It's raining on the inside of the front door. The carpet is all wet, etc, we will need to recaulk the window !!

My wonderful husband offered to start my car for me as he was leaving yesterday morning, it was a cool 7C.  As I was out the door just 5 minutes later I said ‘mucho gracias mi amore’.  Not moments later he came back in….”your car is flooded!”  “What the ????” I replied.

It seems that my car has a tiny window leak, so he covered it up and cancelled his appointment to drive me to mine!

Then I noticed that it was flooding, everywhere!

This is the road between our beach site and the house site....

It wasn't till we got back home that I saw this news item!

And so the rest of the day was spent inside, with heaters on! I refuse to post a photo of the fresh snow on the mountains and hills around us.  Enough said other than that our normal daily average high is 21C while the low is 9C, we barely surpassed the average low on this memorable day.

It’s gone…….

We have been living under cloud and showers for a few days now but this morning the heavens have opened.  There is even snow on roads in the mountains passes!  A high of 11C today!

People still enjoy the lake with cloudy weather and I've seen water skiers out in showers but not today, just the ducks! This photo was taken a few days ago.

So today it will be inside fun for the girls.  Both Colin and I will have to brave the elements due to pre booked appointments.

They have taken up a new sport, wrestling.

This is a recent development over the past week.

No crabs to hunt here so they hunt each other!

I hope the rain doesn't damage my blooming lilac. It has such a sweet fragrance.
