Another beautiful day here in the Okanagan. Highs over the next 5 days should reach 29C, however it is cooling down somewhat at night, as in 3.2C last night!!
Colin is shooting a new hospital in Vernon today before it opens for business. Good job for sure! He already has been given the job for the new hospital tower here in Kelowna that will open in May 2012. My concern is that we might have to come back a bit earlier from Mexico. I am not worried about that yet as we may need to be back for the move into our new home. We have had several great showings and have 2 or 3 serious possibles. One lady was around last night just at dusk, just looking and looking. We shall see.
Meanwhile I am very slowly getting caught up with my desk work that has been piling up since early July. I can’t go to Mexico till that is done and then lots more desk work. My current mantra is one day at a time, some days it’s one hour at a time ;}
The RV has been scheduled for some work on September 15th at Voyageur RV. From there is has to go somewhere else for other work….I will get the list from Colin so I can post it. It’s not my department so I don’t know the details. I just have to pay the bills!!
I am slowly starting my health insurance research for the trip south. The first agency told me that due to my surgery I will not be able to be covered. Hmmmm! Once I get the facts & figures I will let you know. We went to a pancake breakfast here last Monday but they still haven’t gotten back to me.

Patti & Simon came along and got to meet some of their neighbors!
Have a great weekend everyone.

It is not even the start of the exodus down south to Mexico and already there are problems.
As I explained in this post you now need to make a deposit on your vehicle, not your RV but your towed vehicle or the truck you are towing your RV with. There has been some speculation as to the deposit being returned. This RV.net forum post discusses some of the problems. I have had a comment on my blog from someone about their deposit not being refunded.
From the first day that this new rule was announced I have stated that cash is the way to go. So for those of you heading south this season be sure you have the right amount of pesos or US dollars to pay your deposit. Don’t expect the Banjercito to have change for you.

Once, when we lived in Vancouver, Colin went to work in slippers!
Once, while living here, Colin travelled all the way into a Kelowna shoot with the garbage & the doggie ‘you know’ in the back of his car!! He later said he wondered what the smell was!
But yesterday, he left for a photo shoot about 4:30PM, actually got to the highway when he realized he had forgotten his cameras!!!!
I will admit that he had left the house at 6:00AM and had had a rather engaging day, going here and there, but still, his cameras!!

I suspect that he never got enough sleep last night!! Mind you, by the time he got to bed about 1:00AM there wasn't too much room left in the bed. Next house will have a king size bed for sure!

Carmeh gets up with her Dad but certainly not ole lazy bones Caeli!!

The good news stems from this article on violence & crime in the state of Sinaloa. Is a nutshell it says that crime is down 29% in Mazatlan, robberies are up but homicides are down!! Good news indeed, we might get robbed but not murdered 🙂
The bad news is that D Day has been set back to October 25th. That was the maximum delay I was willing to negotiate. Stay tuned, cuz I don’t drive the big bus, so I might get stuck here while Colin is working 🙁
And this is the ugly….

..another local critter!

Dear Patti & Simon,
Welcome to your new home in Holiday Park Resort! So happy to have you as neighbours!!

They were suppose to arrive on the 23rd but unknown to us they arrived a day earlier. It seemed to take them no time to set up. Almost looks like they have been here forever.
You can imagine our surprise when first thing the morning of the 23rd Patti is knocking at the door. I was still in my nightie and hadn’t even brushed my teeth yet!! Great to see them and of course the girls remembered Patti from Mexico. We met Simon & Patti two winters ago, but as we were in different RV parks, we only came to know them this past winter when we moved to RV1 and the waterfront site. This past April they surprised us when we arrived here back from Mexico with a huge announcement.

Pizza, caesar salad and wine for a quickly put together dinner.

Somehow we were even able to create a wee bit of entertainment...

We have seen mink in the park before but not on our beach site. The girls cornered this critter between the kayaks. It's screams were horrendous. Colin had to physically remove the dogs and put them inside for safety, Mink have sharp teeth, finally is scurried away. Sorry about the poor photo but it was the best we could do in the heat of the moment!!

Then for the first time this summer, we saw the beaver coming past. It was a great evening, even though Colin had to leave a tad earlier to do some computer work.
Patti & Simon are adjusting to living here and seem to be enjoying themselves. Patti says ‘I love it here’, Simon says he doesn’t really like the 34C days so much! They are making good use of the various swimming pools. Don’t worry folks, it will cool off soon enough! So happy to have you here.
