Dare I admit it?

What is it?

I really don't want to tell you but those are mushrooms growing in the living carpet in our RV!!  Honestly~!

Can you imagine what I thought when I saw them?  Colin initially laughed but got more serious when he realized that they just keep coming.  In the middle of our 20 days with no power we noticed a wet spot in that part of the carpet.  At first we thought it was from all the rain….but no, we had a very very very tiny minuscule leak from the kitchen tap connection.  Colin dried it up as best we could, of course we had no extra electricity to put a fan on the area and we thought it was dry.  Not!!  Okay that makes three, after the inverter problem and propane problem.  We are done.  Well not really, as I have to see how we are going to get this mess cleaned up.

Meanwhile I have purchased a first class ticket from all my extra income, for Mr. Murphy, from here to the North Pole!!  I hope he freezes up there and doesn't come back to bug anyone else!  Murphy's Law!! Ha!

It was a horrid miserable wet weekend, lots of floods and disasters here in the Okanagan. Fortunately our lake is still going down drop by drop.

I even managed to catch a double rainbow between storms.

Que pasa!!

I was woken up at 6:30AM Friday with a call from Mazatlan saying I had just won the contest for a case of Chilean wine!!!!!!!!!  This was the contest I entered….amazing odds. What a rush……as you all know I love vino…..really really helped the day get going…….

Day 3 of the crack cement guys will be extending to day 4 & 5 and possibly day 6!!!!!  No worries….no final product…no money!

Got my new and final crown today…still sensitive and painful but I shall persevere!

After all that we went out to redo paint choices, stain choices and kitchen hardware choices.

I forgot my camera but I know you would have loved the shot of the girls in the buggy at Rona ( similar to Home Depot or Lowe’s ).

Here is the article to my claim to fame! Maybe I should go buy a lotto ticket today?????????????

Have a look at this post to see a wonderful day on la Isla……

Meanwhile….life is perfect day after day on  la Isla….come join us!  This was our last dinner on the Isla end of March…..with that case of wine waiting for me….life is going to be beyond perfect!!

Why did the turtle cross the road?

What was he doing on the road in the first place?

This is a Western painted turtle who lives in our lake. He must be lost...first thing I did was stop the car and shoo it off the road for safety. Maybe I should have picked it up and brought it to the lake?

These turtles are endangered in some areas and here on Duck Lake they are considered threatened. Maybe the high lake level got him roaming.

Yesterday was day 2 of the cement guys working their 'magic'. He is spraying something to supposedly clean up our slate slabs. It didn't work! It did kill the grass where he over sprayed.

Nor did their day 1 of power washing remove the rust off our driveway. Colin and I took turns and used a variety of products and did it ourselves! If we had more time we would simply do everything ourselves instead of hiring people. Maybe next year.

Today promises to bring lots more to do’s to be done.  We did get to see the house yesterday…..it looks wonderful and is going to be fantastic.  Also interviewed a builder for the add a room portion which will be built in August once the house is delivered to this site.

Colin took this photo yesterday morning……and yesterday early evening I even found 10 minutes to just sit and relax and enjoying the ducks on the lake.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness or whatever words you choose to use for OMG…….not those words for me!!!

We are back to, too much, too fast to OMG!!!  Way too much to post under Que Pasa!  Honestly, the worst was driving into Kelowna ( 45 minutes ) for a pre arranged meeting to check on our stain glass windows.  The guy had done nothing and what he had done was not worthy of our time!!  He expected applause but I was so put off  ( again feel free to change the words  PO’D)at what he had to show me!!!  I was so schocked that I never even took a photo….what a waste of 90 minutes.  Next time take a picture and email me your pencil sketch.

Meanwhile Colin discovered that we had a window cut into the house with the wrong dimensions. We have heard that you really have to check each day….we didn’t want to bug the builder……well  OMG…..we will be there daily!!  Still working on that problem.

Yes Elaine, I got my glasses and I can see….I just don’t have the 5 hours required to get them adjusted correctly.  My eyelashes are being squished.  I gave an hour yesterday, maybe in July, I will have a few more hours.

Contessa relax.....remember this great scene Tuesday evening....with the sun setting on the right reflecting the light on the left.......breathe...sip.....breathe....much better! Just a few more sips please.......

Maybe it has to do with the crack cement guy…..yes he came back into my life Wednesday:((  We will need to, on day 1, get everything power washed.

First of all he did actually show up at the allocated time on the correct day which sent us into a tizzy to get everything off the new cement and the patio. In helping I tripped and fell....twisted my body and have a few issues....the wine is helping!

We certainly do have a large patio, when there is nothing on it.

So we have two more days with the crack guy and then I guess I will have to pay them the rest of the money…..but then I never ever have to see them again:)  Did I tell you….actually did I tell you Bob,  that you are my new contractor!!!   For those who read his blog you will know he makes a great caretaker!!

Oh, however did I forget to mention that we had to have repairs done to the propane oven due to the overwhelming fumes.  We have been smelling this for about 18 months and have spent at least $600.00 in trying to find the source of the leak.  Somehow another $450 has solved the  problem.

Did you know that this is what it looks like with your RV stove top removed...only four screws so he said!!!!!

I have expressed enough OMG for today…..stay tuned!

Changes are happening….finally!

Sometimes I long for days where I could just sit all day and do nothing….however it seems that is not a part of my life.  Perhaps a few hours here and there on la Isla.  You have no idea how much I am looking forward to Mexico this fall.

The house is coming along just fine.  In fact it seems to have grown wings and is self building.  Lots of changes…

All of the wall on the right will be removed and joined to our patio room making a great room lake front.

Welcome to my bedroom....this will be street side.

The lake has decided to stabilize and has even dropped 1/2 inch.  A very good change indeed.  We still have a 30% chance of showers today and then three days of sun and heat.  I am so looking forward to not using the furnace.  yes, here we are mid June in the Okanagan and using a furnace!!!  That is not a good change and hopefully not a peek into our future.  It will take several weeks for the lake to receed and then we will have a huge mess of debris to clean up but at least we averted flooding.

What have we here….could it possibly be the biggest change of them all….

What are they looking at? Yes...our new inverter/charger control panel. We have electricity for a mere $2400.00 including tax! That is fine with us, the RV has served us well over the years. Now what really frosted my socks ( well I seldom wear any ~ so I guess frosted my toes ) is that this RV Tech said 'I just found out that you could have electricity all along if I had bypassed XYZ and connected ABC'. So why didn't you?????

Twenty days with no electricity because he didn’t know his job!!!  The worst of it was that he just laughed it off!  Grrrrrrrrrrr!

The verdict is still out on my glasses, will I get them today?  Wish I knew.  Meanwhile good things happening in the income from my wee business as I like to call it.  I am up to $706.13 profit in just 18 days. Looks like this is going to be a big boost to our income over the winter months when we don’t actually have an income.

Not a clear photo because the wind was buffeting me but this is what we dealt with over this past weekend, whitecaps, winds gusting to 50 and splashing on the patio.

Yes that is fresh snow up on Little White. Living on the lake is quite different but interesting.
