Party time…

…we’ve been having too much fun to post.  I promise to catch you up over the next few days.  Last evening we hosted a post luck for the RV1 group.  We started early and finished late, very late, more about that later.

There were 16 of us in all. We do have 18 RV's here but one is a single person and another is waiting for family to join him.

I was concerned that we would not have enough food or the right mix of salads, veggies and main course. Many brought 2 dishes and we had lots of delicious food to choose from.

This was Colin’s plate and he is missing many of the dishes including meat balls and chicken.

For those of you who were sitting under our palapa this is the sunset you missed.

A happy and very full group of campers.

The two empty chairs in the last photo belong to these two pretty ladies.

It was just a lovely evening of quiet conversation and comaraderie and everyone getting to know each other.

For the past day and a half we have seen signs of the restaurant next door setting up for a gala event.  Beer trucks, table and chairs delivered and many decorations being set up.  The restaurant had been rented for the evening for a wedding.  Normally the restaurant is only open for a few hours during the day and has no effect on us, but last night was going to be the exception.  The band took an hour to set up and were loud, in fact you could say that they were booming!  What to do but open another bootle of vino blanco and relax and go with the flow.

There was quite the light show that illuminated the ocean waves, very pretty.

After the opening number the band played a slow waltz. I quickly grabbed Colin for a spin around our yard. John captured the moment.

Shortly thereafter the thumping began...

...and continued until around 3:00AM or so. We simply closed our windows and turned on the A/C to drown out the noise but the RV was still vibrating.

Now that was a party.

We have the best of it all, a lovely home in Kelowna and a great home here on the Isla.

Tres Amigos RV Park

…is located on Stone Island aka Isla de la Piedra.  It is really a part of Mazatlan and offers a superb beach and many fabulous restaurants.  The RV Park has 50AMP service, great water pressure and sewer.  The park is made up of 2 sections, RV1 and RV2, separated by a restaurant and a hotel.  Nice to have a restaurant next door that is only open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.  Handy yet quiet.

There are only 9 front row sites in RV1 and they are full.

The second row is mostly open. The Class A belongs to King David Perez the owner of the park. A few days ago we had 3 other RV's in for just a few days. Still lots of room for the rest of the winter.

RV2 is still waiting for some regulars to arrive but it does have one front ocean site available. As you can see there is lots of room in rows 2, 3 and 4.

There are many folks who live on the Isla willing to help with whatever your needs are.

Here Ismael is helping Colin wash our rig.

The top corner of this RV had been ripped open during the trip down. Francisco has it looking brand new.

Rene will build you steps, a full palapa, a sun shade, a brick patio, an outdoor shower and even plant a garden for you.

Life is great here on the Isla. We are thankful to have discovered this little piece of paradise.

Hope to see you here one day.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers.

Que pasa

Colin entertaining the neighbors a few nights ago. Thanks for the photo John.

Just another morning walk, same beach but always something different.

This time Caeli came face to face with a grasshopper.

Bit by bit our plants are coming back.

Within a few weeks our bougainvillea should be blooming once again.

Meanwhile our new hibiscus continue to amaze us with their beauty.

We enjoyed a lovely happy hour ( s ) last evening.

All so happy to be on the Isla!

Adios to Ivy and her parents Sandi and Tony ~ they left for Lo de Marcos this morning.

The girls got a proper bath this morning complete with baby shampoo.

I was finally was able to deliver my gift of a pot of flowers to the matriarch of the family living way down the beach in an old abandoned restaurant. She has been admiring our flowers when she walks past and I just decided to treat her. This family used to live in the Colonia and somehow ended up on the beach but it is a very long walk for them to purchase their basic foods.

N0t sure what the rest of the day will bring.  Certainly books, music, vino and a lovely ocean breeze.

Just enjoying the Isla

The days pass so quickly.  There don’t seem to be enough hours in the day.  I’m up at 6:00AM and while I wait for the rest of the family to awake I read the news online, check some blogs and make some comments.  Suddenly it’s time to do our long beach walk.  By the time the girls have been fed and the kettle boiled for us it’s about 8:30AM.  I sit with a book and my coffee for just a few moments when the horn sounds announcing the first of the two veggie truck vendors.  They never have the same items each day and often one has different produce from the other.  No papaya yesterday but lots today.  No zucchini  or spinach today but yes finally watermelon and then I spy a treasure.  Beets tops.  I ask if I can just have the beets tops?  Of course Miguel answers yes and now I have ingredients for todays smoothie.

Beet tops & celery for the veggie part plus banana, orange, watermelon, strawberries and protein powder. Today my smoothie is a lovely pink color. I never know if today will be a smoothie day, one has to be flexible based on available ingredients. I hope for spinach for tomorrow.

By the time I shop, clean and prepare the veggies and fruits and sit and relax again it is after 10:30AM.  Then I water the garden, tidy the house and finally find time to write a blog.  Just not enough hours and I love it.  Always time for a wee visit here and there.  Soon it will be time to do some prep for happy hour and for our dinner later.  I look forward to my precious few hours in the early afternoon with a glass of wine and my book.

On an afternoon walk a few days ago we saw this fisherman getting ready to head our for a night of fishing. Notice the 2 light bulbs hanging on the back left of the panga. We often see these tiny lights bobbing in the distance and know that someone is working hard all night.

We had a vistor the other day. The foal is only 15 days old and is a first for the 3.5 year old mare. The owner is a friend of a someone doing work for an RVer and he brought by the horses by for us to enjoy.

Things just happen on the Isla and you just have to enjoy them as they happen. Everyday is different and a new adventure.

As you know our neighbours here at Tres Amigos, Val & John Love, live in Holiday Park Resort with us in Kelowna.  Their immediate neighbours at Holiday Park, Sandi & Tony Pattison dropped by Sunday for a 3 day visit.  It was their first visit to Isla de la Piedra.  They are headed further south to Lo de Marcos for the winter.  We had met Sandi & Tony over 8 years ago in Celestino Gasca.

So we headed out for dinner last night to the El Velero, to celebrate having 3 couples from the same Resort here on the Isla. I have to say that the margaritas were the best I have had in a long while and I will be back! Monday was massage day so what a treat to have a lovely meal out.

The menu for my Mazatlan readers who might like to come by for lunch one day! The margaritas were only 50 pesos. The second one was as good as the first 😆

Tony and I had the coconut shrimp which were very good. The waiter later apologized that the cook had used the small size shrimp in error. They gave us a discount. We will just have to go back again soon and try it again. The others had various dishes of fish and they were all tasty.

Yesterday was cloudy and breezy and there was no sunset. As we returned to the RV park, I had to laugh at how Colin and John were both walking with their hands behind them.

Once home I had a wee ( long ) nap while Colin joined the others with his guitar.  I woke to the sounds of guitar playing next door but stayed inside with my book.  Just lovely.  It cooled down yesterday and this morning it was a wonderful 65F inside.  Perfect for sleeping.  Today back to sunshine and heat with a lovely breeze.
