Just enjoying life
We get up in the morning and just go with the flow and the day passes all too quickly. I can’t imagine being anywhere else right at the moment.

Or to stretch!!! Notice Caeli laying in her stretch position below the inverter. She always imitates whatever Colin is doing.
Carmeh is content to sit and wait for prey to pass by. I think she must have been a cat in another life.

Yesterday afternoon our bike family came by. Our neighbors, John & Val had purchased a few gifts for the little girl. Don't tell her but she is getting a barbie doll with another set of clothes and accessories to play with and a pretty dress for herself. She seemed to know what presents were as she was shaking the boxes. Not sure who the little girl in the pink was, but she was visiting, perhaps a cousin.
I received an interesting link from readers Ruth and Gerry….it is not a gimmick but is does not work from here on the Isla as you do need an address to put in and we don’t have addresses here. I did try it with a few other addresses and it works. Very cute.
Just type in your address, or any family addresses, and look through the window at the snow falling on your home today.

Que Pasa on the Isla
We are still taking our long morning walks. I tend to wimp out on the afternoon walks. I guess that second walk of the day might just be one my New Year resolutions.

With the recent full moon the tide has been very high early in the morning making it difficult to walk. We have to shuffle our times a bit but if we wait too long, then it become almost too warm to walk. The temperatures have remained hot and wonderful.

The water has been coming closer and closer to our wall but not quite yet. The girls make friends with all the beach dogs.
Lucas is fully recovered from his sting ray incident but has refused to go into the water since then. Too bad as he really had been enjoying the water. He says he needs another few days to think about it. He flies back to Kelowna and lots of snow on Christmas Day. Lucas you are running out of time!
Just wanted to mention that we see our family with their new to them bikes almost daily and they have huge smiles. Nice to see. The bike baskets are always full. The family is also on our Christmas Hamper program. Just found out that we are able to feed an additional 10 families for a total of 42 this year.

Caeli hates being fenced in and is constantly trying to escape. This week she figured out how to nudge the gate open with her nose so now we have to fasten it with a clip. Yet when I open the gate she is just happy to sit on the top step and watch the world pass by.

We are still eating well and so glad we bought the larger Weber. How else would we have room for 3 salmon patties, 2 baked potatoes, a large package of onions and all that squash that had been marinated in coconut oil. It was a gourmet meal and tasted every bit as great as it looks.

Yesterday, for the first time since we arrived here on Nov. 7th, the weather took a turn for the worse. We had clouds and wind and rain showers. That still didn't stop people from enjoying the beach nor Carol from the park here and her sister swimming in the ocean.

It was a great day to stay inside and listen to Christmas carols, my favorite station being the Franco Fetes on Shaw. It was dark enough to have the inside Christmas lights on most of the day. My idea of a cozy way to spend the day. As you can see our stockings are hung with care.

Early this morning I saw this pair trot right past us, next to our wall. We later saw them down the beach while on our walk. I guess their owner just lets them roam at will.

The sun returned this morning and we were able to sit out and enjoy the heat and a great plate of fresh fruits. Everything on this plate was purchased off the veggie trucks that come to the park on a daily basis. Even those small pieces of muffin on the top left next to the watermelon. Anything you want, you just have to ask for and it usually delivered within a day or two.
Life is pretty good here on the Isla. Now if they could just fix the glitch with the internet we would be back in paradise once again.

Locked in the bathroom twice and misplaced camera !!
Wednesday evening four of us headed over to the Golden Zone in Mazatlan to listen to a friend and his band play some great music. Turns out several others from the Isla also came over and it was a busy evening. First you have to drive to the embarcadero, then take a panga ( also called a launcha ) across the shipping channel to Mazatlan. From there you take a pulmonia to the Playa Del Mar, the restaurant.

A pulmonia holds four adults so Marjorie and Bob doubled up. The dude in the front is our musician friend Kevin who we met on the panga. Colin managed to cut his face off.
By the time we got there I had to visit the ladies room. One the way out, the door to the restaurant would not open, it seemed stuck rather than locked. So after a few minutes of trying I gave up and just walked down the hall until I and saw a very low window that led back inside and I just climbed back in. I did mention the stuck door to the waiter. Not an issue for me at all.
Then I had to visit the ladies room once again. This time I couldn’t get out of the stall. The latch was rusty and would not move back to the open position. I tried pulling and then pushing the door, I took my shoe off and banged the lock, all to to avail. By now I was panicking just a tad. I waited for the song to end and started screaming in English and alternately in Spanish for help! No one heard me. By the beginning of the third song I was seriously wondering how I was going to get out. Meanwhile Colin was worried about why I was in the washroom so long so he asked Marjorie to come check on me. Thank goodness! Off she went and found a very cute waiter who at first thought he could jump over the top of the door. Not possible! Finally we convinced him that he would have to come under the door and the doors were rather low to the ground. First he took off his white work shirt and then crawled under and up and rescued me. I gave him a big kiss and hug. There was no way I could have got down that low in the small space of the stall and crawled out. Marjorie later mentioned that she had used the same stall earlier and that the door latch almost didn’t open for her.
It was soon time to head back to the Isla. It was cooler and I pulled my jacket out of my bag for warmth. We were about halfway to the embarcadero and I asked Colin where the camera was, in my bag he said. It wasn’t. Nor was it in my purse. We had the pulmonia turn around and returned to the Palapa del Mar but the camera could not be found and even though it was announced by the band, no one had found it. Nothing to do but return to the pangas. I would just have to get yet another camera. As we were leaving the pulmonia I felt something bulky at my back, it was my camera. It must have fallen out of the bag when I put my jacket on. So the evening ended on a perfect note.
Yesterday I nursed a sore throat all day. Either from my cries for help or the beginning of a cold, not sure yet. Just a bit tender today.
