Living our life

So we are working at getting into our own grove.  That means doing what we want to do, when we want to do it and how we want to do it.  Often that means we don’t have time to hang out with everyone else in the RV park as we really need to regroup.  It has been a long five years of no quality time for us together based on our history.  We pick and chose our social times with our friends here based on our own activities and goals.  Perhaps if we were retired we would have those extra hours to share.

Heck I can’t even find time to post.  Why you ask?  Because I am doing what I want to do…..helping a friend who has a dog not doing well and who very sadly had to be put down (which made me very sad for a few days), reading a book,  going for an extra walk on my own, just fitting in some quality time with Colin and the girls.  Colin truly enjoys the consistent study of his music.  I have neglected so many emails and some very special friends who deserve my time but I only have so much.  I have even deferred my blog reading on a daily basis….time is moving so quickly.  I remember when I was in my twenties and I thought that I had all the time in the world.  Now is the time for me to do what I really want to do.  Perhaps it isn’t being at your side every moment but next week it might be.  Please just take me as I am right now…. I am a work in progress 😳

My posts will happen when they do.  They no longer will be in the proper order, i.e. stories and photos posted in the order that they happened.  I guess you might say that I am going wild…well at least I am going to give it a shot as that is what my heart is wanting.

Tomorrow is another day waiting for a new experience or adventure.

Made another one of my special pizzas the other.

Made another one of my special pizzas the other.

Why show you a photo of a pizza?  Well that reminded me that Colin and I re celebrated Christmas a few days ago.  Not the entire day but a special dinner complete with champagne.  There are a few recipes that I have made for us for 29 years now that we only enjoy but once per year and that was last Wednesday.  However I forgot to take photos 😕  It was a great meal and we will have leftovers for days to come.  Now it is time to start thinking about taking down our inside Christmas decorations.  The white lights will remain  outside until we leave.

The cruise shops continue to come, two each last Tuesday and Wednesday.

The cruise ships continue to come, two each last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Despite two ships in port we went into town Tuesday with a list of things to do.  One stop included the mercado for special food items for our Christmas meal and a few stops here and there.  I bought a beautiful leather carry bag in a soft gold color.  The once I use is about to fall apart.  Best part, it was on sale at 30% off,  a deal for me at $49.00CAD.

Despite two ships in port we

Caught these two fellows playing checkers using a variety of bottle caps.  One player used the tops and the other used the inverted tops.

Stopped for a late lunch/early dinner at Cocina Lee de Paulina.  There we were joined by a variety of local characters.  Wendy Kain who is a major force behind Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre shows here in Mazatlan is prepping for the opening a new show later this month, My Big Fat Murderous Mexican Wedding.  Details can be found here.  Colin and I will be attending sometime in February.  We had so much fun last March at the Murder in Mazatlan production where I played a small part.

Jim, another musician here in Mazatlan joined us shortly after Wendy left. Always lots happening in town and we had just stopped for a meal.

We are still listening to my French Christmas music on Shaw’s Franco Fetes , channel 942 and I love it.  Of course our lights are still on as well as our decorations still up.  Not quite ready to take it down yet.  I know that some of you take Christmas down on the 26th,  you all have your traditions.  What is the longest that you leave everything up?

All these fresh baked treats are available here on the Isla. A bakery opened ( the first in 7 years that we know about ) in early December.

Whatever you buy is only 5 pesos or 40 cents CAD or 29 cents USD.  On the left is a light pastry filled with real pineapple filling, at the top right is  something with a strawberry jam center.  The bottom right is a large and thick chocolate chip cookie which has yet to pass the lips of any of us in this RV 😀   They are doing very well and as the response from the Isla has been promising they are already thinking of expanding.  However to be honest, each day has different offerings and various hours of operation 😕

Fabulous sunset tonight mostly enhanced from Ferne's site, over a few sites. She has great foreground.

I am happy to say that I have vowed to not start a new novel until I have replied to all of my outstanding emails.  As of right now I am down from 180 to 49 😛   One at a time, one hour at a time and baby steps….my new mantra.

Perhaps she was upset that her dinner was two hours late. Actually there had also been a few loud bangs in the area, people are still celebrating the new year.

She is fine today as we are despite another late evening.  Nothing to do today but read and catch up on my many many emails.  Colin gets to play with his guitar all day.  A great beginning to 2016.  What will the rest of the year bring?  You will just have to check in with me to find out.  Enjoy your Sunday where ever you are 😉

Sadly the final sunset of 2015 was not at all dramatic.

We actually did not eat in the Plazuela but at the restaurant Delirium mere steps away. We had wanted to eat at El Presidio, same as last New Years but we were too late in makeng a reservation.

It was very cool and windy on the Isla when we left which dictated my attire for the evening. However it was pleasantly warm in town.

Delirium is a small intimate place but we did not feel crowded at all. They even have a few tables on the street.

They even have a few tables on the street. Sadly they were very short staffed in the kitchen delaying our meals but a combination of good wine and great friends help to make the time pass.

What a perfect way to end one year and bring in the next.

The last post of 2015

What a year it has been what with my Father passing and Carmeh becoming paralysed.  Fortunately she recovered and here we are once again enjoying our life here in paradise.  Even better we are surrounded by many friends.  Carmeh did well on our final beach walk of the year but Colin did a mix of letting her walk and carrying her.

I forgot to mention that we had a scheduled power outage last Tuesday, the 29th. Chirs was kind enough to set up his generator so those who wanted it could have internet.

We also had a visit from Eric our RV tech repair guy. We are now caught up on everything but one huge job which will be dealt with in January.

We woke up to come campers just up the beach from us.

It also appeared that we wold be treated to yet another wedding last night....we were.

Shortly after they left I put something in a cupboard which caused a photo to fall which caused me to jiggle a strand of Xmas lights as I bent to retrieve it. That in turn knocked my grandmothers fragile glass ornament to fall and break.

That in turn knocked my grandmothers fragile glass ornament to fall and break.  I’m still hanging it with the good side showing.  Not sure if it will survive storage in my Christmas box.

We then went for a wee stroll to check on the wedding. I liked how they added the lights. It was a quiet evening until midnight when a band showed up but even they were low keyed. It didn't bother us at all.

Having a quiet afternoon.  Colin and I are about to head up the beach for a snack and a margarita for me.  Tonight the boys and us are heading into the big city to celebrate the New Year.  Wishing you all a special last day and evening as you end 2015.  May 2016 be a time of health for you all as well as a time to do something new, possibly something fun or an adventure, something to add to your memories.  Let the New Year be all that you want it to.
