Our big night on the town during Carnaval

As I mentioned last pot we decided to not do the big things this year like the firework display ( although from what I have seen they were spectacular ) nor the parade but we did want to get into town and enjoy the energy. This is the paper mache statue at the Plazuela Machado.

Right behind the treat stand was this fellow cooking up some peanuts. What I spared you was the next photo of him using his apron to wipe the persperation from his face.

Incognito for the night or just someone who is enjoying the romance and mystery of Carnaval.

Just a bit of Carnaval for you

Mazatlan is very big into Carnaval this weekend.  Yesterday was the big naval combat and fireworks display.  Today is the first parade.  Colin and I have seen both over the years and have chosen to stay here quietly on the Isla this year. We do still hear the deep bass of the banda music every night until the wee hours of the morning, all the way over the shipping channel from Olas Altas where things are hopping.

For certain there is a large group of RVers devoting themselves to the big game today.  We have several folks here from Colorado 😀

The following link will take you to the local Noreste-TV  Facebook page where you can view a very short, less than 2 minute video of last nights spectacular fireworks display.  At about the midway mark you will see fireworks coming out of the ocean, quite incredible.

Colin and I did go into Mazatlan for several hours on the town Friday night.  Photos of that soon 😉  Internet too slow to load my photos.

Que pasa

More 'concrete' being poured but not for us. The RV park is putting in the white tube to hold up the electrical lines. The tree on the left did the job until it was hit by lightening a few years ago and it is about to fall over.

Norte ( cold front ) #35

That is what they call weather systems here in Mexico and #35 is a direct result of what many of you in Arizona have been dealing with the past few days.  All I can say is that the very cool and fierce wind has had brought out fleece and  long pants.  We went into Mazatlan this morning and it was a challenge.  There were whitecaps in the channel and we had to wear life jackets and we were getting very wet ( waves over the side ) despite the fact that the lancha was going very slow.  It was cold out there.

We were our and about to check out the various statues lining the malecon for Carnival.

The theme this year is Mazatlántida “The allegory that emerged from the waves.” - See more at: http://www.gomazatlan.com/en/events/mazatlan-carnival#sthash.ckX1quDX.dpuf

As our pulmonia traveled up the malecon we were able to view most of the paper mache statues.

Even Panchos is ready for Carnival as is the rest of Mazatlan. Take note of my heavy fleece jacket.

Sidewalk impediment. I would have to have totally doubled over to walk under this tree and even then my back would have touchedt he lower limbs.

The final stop of the day was to pick up a few groceries at Mega, the mostly gringo grocery store in Mazatlan. Loved this neat ride waiting in the parking lot.

Just another day in paradise despite that the North front has made it’s way south.  Gosh here it is at 7:45PM and we are way down to 70F.  Windows closed and sweaters on while inside 😕

Last nights sunset....not much tonight, besides I was too cold to notice.

If you don’t believe me….check out the news, it really did snow in Nogales today.  That is the US/Mexican border crossing in Arizona 😯

Simply enjoying the beauty of life….

…here on the Isla as well as each other and the girls. The following photos were mostly taken January 31st but because I was enjoying time with friends next door I never got around to posting 😎

Sunset last Saturday, the 30th of January. Amazing how different they are each evening, especially the colors.

The girls are totally into relaxation.

Always something to watch pass us by. How could anyone become bored here, so much to see, so much to do and so much of nature to absorb.

Colin is back at work on his Spanish lessons. FIdel arrived early so Colin had to study and eat his breakfast at the same time.

I love watching this fisherman night after night. One day I must get up at dawn and see what he catches.....well maybe next year.
