Norte ( cold front ) #35
That is what they call weather systems here in Mexico and #35 is a direct result of what many of you in Arizona have been dealing with the past few days. All I can say is that the very cool and fierce wind has had brought out fleece and long pants. We went into Mazatlan this morning and it was a challenge. There were whitecaps in the channel and we had to wear life jackets and we were getting very wet ( waves over the side ) despite the fact that the lancha was going very slow. It was cold out there.

Our destination was our annual breakfast at Panchos. A true iconic restaurant in the Golden Zone. However today was rather nippy and nary a beach vendor was to be seen never mind beach walkers. Note the yellow flag blowing in that North wind.

As we strolled away from the Golden Zone I noticed this lovely bougainvillea growing over the roof of a restaurant. Good thing I did as right next door was an ATM booth which was the most important part of our journey into town. How could I have forgotten to pick up some pesos!

The new fountain feature at the renovated round about in front of Valentinos restaurant. Complete with a Carnival statue in the background. Rather apropos I thought.

Sidewalk impediment. I would have to have totally double over to walk under this tree and even then my back would have touched the lower limbs. Only in Mexico will they redo the sidewalk but not remove the obstacle.

The final stop of the day was to pick up a few groceries at Mega, the mostly gringo grocery store in Mazatlan. Loved this neat ride waiting in the parking lot.
Just another day in paradise despite that the North front has made it’s way south. Gosh here it is at 7:45PM and we are way down to 70F. Windows closed and sweaters on while inside 😕
If you don’t believe me….check out the news, it really did snow in Nogales today. That is the US/Mexican border crossing in Arizona 😯

Love the statues along the Malecon.
It was 36 F this morning when I got up and breezy which sure doesn’t help. So I feel for you. Those statues are really incredible and very unique.
I walked under that tree just today on the way to Mega and I was bent way over. I think the statues are so beautiful as they are every year but this year they are just so whimsical they make you smile. Last week we finished getting photos of each one that I shared on FB. With the wind the street around the fountain was wet. Quite a breeze yesterday and today.
