Breaking news

Ciela ( now 13 months ) had a big break through yesterday.  For a few reasons we have had to keep the girls inside during the day with the door closed more than they would like. She was bored. The twins are not interested in toys whatsoever. When they were younger they were just a wee bit. They will chew deer antlers and some but not all nylabones.

We have lots of balls and on occasion when we throw them Ciela will gather them up one by one and put them in a corner or on a dog bed. Both of them sat and watched Luna play ball with her owner during the two playdates they have had.

So the other day we were talking and Carlie was napping when we noticed Ciela pick up this ball in her mouth.

She even rolled it with her paw.

She threw it with her mouth. I was able to take some quick photos but most were blurry.

We were elated to see her playing on her own with a ball.

Twice she batted it away and it went under a chair or the stool in this case.  She even was able to retrieve those balls. She looks so happy here.

She looks so proud of herself.

A few days later Colin was sitting on the floor with the girls trying to engage them in playing with some toys. He threw the same ball and bounced it on the floor while they watched. After the 8th time Ciela figured it out and caught it in her mouth as it bounced down. Such a smart girl. Has not happened since.

We finally saw some herons

We often would see herons sitting out front fishing as well as when we walked the beach. This is the first since we got here two months ago that we have seen them.

I put in both photos even though they are similar.

From front to back, sitting heron, fisherman, oh that is our sailboat again and a shrimp boat far out.

Loving the waves the past few days.

They did not stay long but I certainly enjoyed them.

Someone asked about the tides. Yes the tides that I have photographed are normal. At least once per month we have really low tides which are great for shell collecting and a very high that brings in the waves. Nature is so interesting. Of course the moon is involved but I have yet to study that. Maybe one day when I have nothing else to do – wonder when that will happen.

Another person mentioned that the beautiful sailboat is not very dog friendly.  We actually met a couple one year that had a catamaran and had trained their dog to do its business on the webbing between the two hulls. But what about letting your dog run on the beach? Hopefully they do from time to time.

Our boat left without us

But first a photo of Ciela watching a bird ( white blob on the saucer ) enjoying a bath. She did not disturb the bird at all.

High tide around us.

We woke up one morning to this lovely sailboat anchored directly in front of us. It must have been a gift to us from a good friend.

In the 13 years that we have been here we have never seen one so close to shore.

The tide got higher and higher each day. In the foreground is the mesh fence in front of our site. Where is the beach?

Both up and down the beach the ocean was lapping the restaurants.

The waves have been magnificent.

And then one morning the sailboat was gone. Four kids and two adults on an ATV. I have seen even more on an  ATV but no camera on hand.

Again no internet today and it has been so slow the past few days. But I was able to squeeze in this post.
