We finally have some babies

It’s 9:50PM and I am eating my dinner at my desk to get this post out to you. No I am not sleeping at my desk like this doxie.

I was ready to write this at 8PM but Safari could not find the server to my blog, it must have been down.  So instead I went to have a hot soak in the tub.  Well our hot water on demand heater had other ideas. This has happened perhaps 2 -3 times per month over the past year. Colin simply goes outside and resets it and then we have hot water again. In fact when he went to run his bath first tonight there was no heated water. The reset worked for him but not for me. It eventually worked and I had a warm to hot bath, I prefer it as to be as hot as I can sit in. We had an appointment for June 3rd for servicing. Colin called today ( the system went down three times yesterday ) and they are now coming Tuesday on an urgent basis. Hopefully it can be repaired as our unit is no longer made and is currently sitting in a custom made addition to our house complete with that same siding. The new models are much larger so let’s hope that we can get this one repaired. Not only is the hot water heater no longer being made nor is our colour of siding 😯

Our weather has been coolish with a good deal of wet stuff falling. Certainly not a typical Okanagan May. Hopefully it will pick up. We have special company going for the May long weekend. Plus it will be our parks first garage sale since the summer of 2019. As well there is a snowbird  dinner and dance.  Not fun if it is wet and cold.

These two continue to do what the other does. Those are supposed to be worn as sweaters, not long skirts.

Our first view of the new babies. We still only have the one couple and one loner, same as last spring. The wind was up and the waves were pushing them about a bit and they ended up on or beach to give the littles ones a rest.

Just the seven. However I thought I saw them again yesterday – passing by at beach level which I could not easily see and there were only five goslings. I really hope that I am wrong about that.

Colin went to prep the garden. Thing like picking up all the dead leaves, the weeds and turning the soil. These two never left this area for over two hours. Ciela eventually fell asleep while her sister kept guard.

The conditions of late have been perfect for those living in Alberta to see the northern lights. They were seen a few times from the higher elevations here in Kelowna. I have seen them when I lived in Edmonton but Colin has never seen them. Of all the great photos I have seen, this is the very best. Scott Lake Hill is on Highway 1 – The TransCanada Highway between Calgary and Canmore near Morley, Alberta. Definitely something we want to see sooner than later.

Time for me to go cuddle one of my puppies.

VERY fun video

 

The girls went to visit their friend Shawney a few days ago to drop something off. I didn’t go but Colin said that the three girls never stopped running for at least 15 minutes.  Shawney’s mom, Heather, took this video. If you click on the words YouTube on the bottom right corner you will get a larger screen. You can then click to expand to full screen on the very right again. So very much energy  in this video and the added music makes it so fun.

The video is just under a minute and is guaranteed to make you smile or even laugh out loud. The video is not sped up.

Late night Monday

I had a different plan for this post but when I went to download my photos from the camera these four shots appeared. I think Colin was sending me a message.

Yesterday, Monday the 2nd of May was quite the day for me. I spent hours holding on the phone to get through to people I needed to speak with. My day ran late then later and later. Colin kept saying he was hungry and I said I would be right there. We ended up having a quick dinner of veggie burgers which he prepared and patiently waited for me.

One of the girls was sleeping in the bed by the fireplace.

The second girl was in a bed in front of our green loungers where we were going to have dinner and catch 30 minutes of TV.

Here is the third girl, sitting at her computer way late doing a blog post.

I think Colin was tying to tell me that I need to change my timing on what I do at night. Sadly today, Tuesday, I had the same kind of day, lots of phone calls and waiting on hold. These are things that I have no control over, be it something via email that needs to be dealt with, a request from someone re a future meeting, dealing with a banking problem ( not our fault at all ) and having a discussion with our lawyer and so on. I don’t remember being so busy at this time of year. I still haven’t even dealt with all my Mexican paperwork yet.

Dinner was delayed yet again until 10PM tonight. I have two minutes to post this before midnight. I will check in again tomorrow. My bed is calling me.

Busy May 1st

While I slept in Sunday morning Colin was out spray painting our patio furniture to give it a newish look.

Lots of work as he had to first deconstruct the chairs. It was the perfect day with heat and blue skies.

The only two geese on the entire lake.

Later in the day we started to plant our flowers. The girls were doing a great job as supervisors.

Carlie rests but Ciela never stops poking her nose wherever she can.

Because of my mistake in counting, we had to back to the nursery to get four more flower plants for the one large container that I missed. We did need more soil for the tomatoes which we have not yet planted so it was not a wasted trip. We have not even started on our veggie garden yet.

These folks we out on the lake for at least three hours. Oh to be young again.

Carlie was a very bad girl. I was sitting at my desk with Ciela on my lap when I heard Carlie bark. She was on top of her crate  ( she got up there from the sofa ) and before I could jump up or yell at her she jumped down to the hardwood floor. OUCH! She seemed okay at the time and still does. More supervision on our part required.

Just at dusk this evening Colin was outside and I was in the house.  We both saw what we think are two beavers.  The one on the left is our normal guy while the one on the right appears to be a second beaver.  They were travelling at the same speed and both stayed above the water. Interesting.

Where did April go?

No matter what we are doing as long as the twins are together they are happy.

It wasn’t until I started editing photos for this post that I realized how very busy we have been. We only got home on the 10th of April and of course that meant unloading, laundry, etc. The RV was towed to Kamloops on the 14th and as far as we know no one has looked at it yet.

Some of these dates may be out of order but I know that you will figure it out. I completed the year end on the 22nd ( balanced to the penny ) and was sent by Fed Ex to our accountant in Vancouver.

The girls had their first annual vet visit on Saturday the 23rd. They did see this vet before we left for Mexico and he will be their regular vet.

From the vets office we had our second doxie meet up at another off leash small dog park. Ciela is being submissive here. There were close to 20 doxies, all different colours and types. I loved the all creme one and the long haired red pup.

Heather had arranged our first doxie meet up on the 16th as well as our second meet up on the 23rd. Various folks come from the Kelowna Daschund Club which I have already posted about. Our girls and another mini doxie hit it off so Shawney and her mom Heather came to visit us here the next day on Sunday the 24th.

Shawney is all black and is about four months younger than our girls and they all weigh the same.  They ran for a very long time.

They truly had a wonderful few hours together.

We were up very early the next morning, Monday the 25th. My hairdresser was fitting us in at 9AM because we had missed our appointment. We were ever so grateful.  The girls know Tana so it was a great reunion for all. This was the only photo I took. Colin walked them while she did my hair, then she did his and finished with me.

Later the afternoon of the 25th I had my second leg done, I got in on a cancellation. Meanwhile we had left the girls with Heather & Shawey on a playdate/babysitting outing. Each needle is an ouch!

Only about 40 needles on my left leg, I had over 60 on my right leg on the 19th. I did not get any photos of the girls at Shawney’s home. But we did stop for groceries before we picked up our girls so I wasn’t thinking about anything but getting home. Do you see why I have been so tired lately?

Finally the next morning, the 26th I started my face treatment. I have waited over 12 months for this appointment. This was taken a few days later. It will get worse before it gets better. Plus I have to go back as some areas were missed. Grrr!

I purchased a new iPhone SE 3rd generation and signed up with Shaw directly after the face treatment. My phone needed to be upgraded. Not a good idea when the pain kicked in. But we were there and committed.  We are looking forward to using their CAD/US and Mexico phone plan when we next travel to Mexico. Colin has since ordered the same iPhone and we need to find time to get that set up.

Wednesday the 27th our lawn guy showed up and pruned two branches off our Honeylocust. Colin does not like to cut major branches, that way if won’t be his fault if something goes wrong 🙂

Colin did have a ladder delivered this past Wednesday as well to get his annual tree pruning job done.

The girls did the best they could to help.

Looking so much better. Colin was disappointed that I never got a photo of him high up on the tall ladder. Sorry.

Thursday the 28th was a very early morning.  We had hired a new window washing company back in October and have had to change their appointment several times because of our delay. Only one person arrived and was surprised at the number and height of our windows. He was here until noon despite having another job scheduled at 10AM. Chris did a fabulous job for us and of course I was too distracted to take photos but they are every so clean.

Friday the 29th we had an unexpected business meeting in the afternoon. We left the girls on their own at home and they didn’t bark too much. We did check on them online thru the camera we had set up.

Today, Saturday the 30th, Colin did lots of odd jobs both outside and inside. I guess I am forgetting to take photos. We headed out late in the afternoon to pick up flowers – I bought for five pots while Colin picked up tomato plants. The nursery was close to being sold out but they have more coming in, in about a week. We got home and Colin said that we have six pots along the patio not five so we have to go back. The girls were on their own and did not bark once.

As I was writing this Colin mentioned that we had our first sighting of the beaver. I caught a glimpse but he was too far to the left to get a good photo.

No wonder I have run out of energy. We have only been home 20 days and look at all we have accomplished in only the last fifteen days. There is another doxie get together at someones home tomorrow afternoon but we are not going. You should see Colin’s list of to do’s 😯

Sweet Ciela has finally started playing with toys. She took this one to her bed for a nap. All of our other girls have been toy dogs but not theses two. I think they just need each other.
