I survived but things keep happening including a way to get some free money!
The ants are gone. I think I killed them all. It must have been a one time thing, perhaps they came in on something. I finally was able to contact Colin this morning and things are happening with the car. A rock or something had damaged the air filter and sensor that sits on top of the engine and the car just stopped working. A mechanic who knows Chevy HHR’s has been found and parts have been ordered. Hopefully the car will be ready for Colin to come back to the Isla on the weekend. He says it has been a hectic few days but he is still managing to enjoy the guitar festival despite little sleep each night. Seems that he and Heriberto are up till the early hours of the morning playing the guitar.
Monday was a good day for me, as I had my usual 90 minute massage and it was fabulous. I really relaxed with it and got a lot out of the session. The girls were so happy to see Maria so it was a treat for them also. I even got to read my book for a while which is always a treat. Things are quieter in the park as a few RV’s left Monday.
A long time blog reader is thinking of purchasing an RV but is being held back by a number of questions one of which is health insurance. He made this comment and requested your input.

Peter had included his email address but why don’t you just make a comment here and then he will see it. I don’t like to publish a readers email address.
Personally Peter, we just get medical insurance for the days we are transiting the USA in both directions, plus a few extra days in case of a breakdown. We don’t have medical insurance while in Mexico. If something happened to us we would pay the price and know that the BC government will reimburse us for what they would have paid for the same procedure at home once we fill in all those forms. We do however have a no charge medical evacuation through our annual membership with Family Motor Coach Association. Worse case scenario we would just get on a plane and fly home to be treated. It all really depends on what the medical problem is. We also have a certain amount to medical coverage on the car and RV so if something happened while traveling in either of those we have some coverage. It is a choice we have made and not necessarily the correct one. What do you do? Does anyone have any ideas that might help Peter? Any suggestions of a good place to get insurance from?
Another friend sent me the following email…..
Suzanne just followed a notice given on TV these past few nights. If you bought a computer, printer or any other device that used a DRAM memory chip in Canada from April 1999 to June 2002, you are eligible for at least $20 as part of a class action settlement claim. Really easy to apply at: https://themoneyismine.ca and no documentation needed unless you have a bigger claim (like businesses etc with lots of computers).
It isn’t much, but why should Apple or Microsoft gouge you? We just applied for it.
Be sure to pass this on to all your family & friends.
That is certainly worth a shot. Are you going to apply? Remember this is for Canadians but when you read the fine print is is also for Canadians who lived in the US during those dates or are now living in the US. Go for it. Let me know if you apply.
Monday’s show was spectacular….

Thanks Contessa for putting my question out there. So far we have found a couple of insurance companies that offer reasonable packages, but more are welcome anytime. On the RV issue; the more we research RVs the more we realize that renting a place is less hassle in the long run.
We hope to meet you and Colin this summer, if not, then definitely next winter in Maz.
Cheers!
Good luck with the ant situation, hope they are gone for good. We had an issue last fall, and thought they were gone, in Texas, but they travelled along with us until we got to California. (I wonder if transporting ants across a state line is illegal?)
Life on the road is wonderful and the majority of the time we are on the move, we really don’t like to stay in one spot too long, now 9 years on the road, someday we will have to stop but sure hope its not too soon.
We had ants in Mexico a couple of years ago and they traveled home with us. It was not until shortly before we left for the next winter that they had finally all died off. They can be a problem.
