Busy in Mazatlan!
Sorry I haven’t posted in a bit but we have been a tad occupied. Last Wednesday was a multiple cruise ship day and we usually stay on the Isla to avoid the crowds but we didn’t.
We are still experiencing fog in the mornings making this arrival almost mystical.
We had some overnight beach campers, it was high tide, lucky they camped far enough back.
After the errand we just had to run into town for, Colin treated me to a late breakfast at Pancho's in the Golden Zone.
While there we were inundated by the usual beach vendors but this group was different. They had a limited repertoire but performed some dancing, juggling and hoop tossing. The other vendors stopped hawking their wares to enjoy the performance. Had it not been a cruise day we would have missed this show!.
Certainly lots of beach activity. I'm glad we did it.
Once back at the embarcadero we notice a huge increase in armed police presence and once we got down to the lancha we were surprised to see two mini boats each equipped with militia and machine guns!!! Perhaps this is in response to the accidental shooting of a tourist a few days previously.
End of day the ship leaves and we settle into our quiet Isla life.

Nice to have some local entertainment to enjoy, with the crows, then back home to relax with another beautiful sunset.

When we are in Mazatlan we stay at our timeshare, Torres Mazatlan. We always position ourselves by the water on cruise ship day during happy hour so we can watch the ships leaving.
We’ve eaten at Pancho’s a couple of times-cute restaurant with really good food. You’re right about the vendors, they try to flag you down as you eat. Everybody has to make a living somehow! On Torres there are about 5 vendors that have earned the resort’s respect, and they are allowed to set up their stuff on the sea wall at the top of the ramp. If I buy something, it’s usually from them. They have become good friends, especially Aurora and Jesus-if I leave my hubby at home, Jesus asks where he’s at, and Aurora and I share needlework stories. Jesus sell sunglasses and hats, and Aurora sells silver jewelry.
Welcome to the blog! I agree with you re the vendors, we all have favorites and tend to purchase from them. They remember us from year to year as we do them. We always try and bring a few little extras down for them and their children. It is easy for us to do this as we have the space in the RV as opposed to your flying down. As tourism is down this season the vendors are suffering.
