Yes it is a very big day. Colin left at 7:40 Am for Winnipeg to see his 96 year young Mom! Strange though that he has to fly West to Vancouver in order to head East to Winnipeg. At least when I navigate heading South we go as directly as possible!
Also today My Dad is having his hip replaced. It has been an extremely long and painful wait. As he is 80 it is not necessarily an easy surgery. All healing & positive thoughts as well as prayers are welcome. He will be arriving at the hospital about 6:45AM and we expect surgery about 2 -3 hours later.
Sorry to all you Albertans emailing me re the smoke….really it isn't my fault. I did not set those forest fires, but you now have an idea of what we go through to get our job done here…tough to do outdoor photos in a fog of smoke.

We had a visit two nights ago from a couple of weiners (and their owners). This is the third summer (maybe 4th…I have rattled grey cells & can't remember too much) that we have seen these people. The larger black & tan is 9 years old & has a severe heart condition. Thunder still leads a quality life despite the medication that has made him so huge. Their second weiner is Reese who is now 3 and purchased from our doxie breeder in Taber, Alberta. They met us, saw our girls and drove straight to Alberta to get a puppy. Check out the link at the top right of this site if you want to buy a puppy. Cute website!

We are still living in the RV…I find it very cozy. I finally got around to getting some laundry done once I realized that Colin was going around with his socks inside out! Sigh! One day we will move back to the house but not we treat it as an office. Monday Colin is off to Vancouver for a day of helicopter aerial photography for the City of Vancouver.
Caeli is loving living at the beach and in the RV. We picked her up in the RV when she was 6 1/2 weeks and she seems to think this is her home. She just tolerates the house. In fact when we all walk across the street to the house for whatever she won't come. We can leave the gate open but she won't leave the beach site. The other day she was sitting outside in the sun when a family of quail and their babies scurried right past her. She simply lifted her head and watched the parade. She is at peace here. Carmeh doesn't seem to be missing the bird too much but always needs to be with one of us. She is craving lots of love and playtime. Each time she comes to the house with us, she returns with a house toy to the RV. For those who don't know, we have indoor and outdoor toys at the house as well as indoor and outdoor toys at the beach. Do ya think my kids are spoilt????
We are starting to eat our tomatoes….yum, yum!
I only have four plants which are mixed into my flower beds but the amount of tomatoes is staggering…must be that artificial insemination I did. My roses are just okay…I haven't the energy to work with them nor fertilize any of my pots. I am looking forward to my flowers in Mazatlan.
Meanwhile we continue to enjoy another heat wave, temps from 33C to 38C every day this week….Colin is rushing to get his exteriors completed because we just know that more forest fires will be upon us soon which means no work.

Who knew that a sip of vino blanco could be so very very painful? Late in the afternoon a day or so ago Colin and I were sitting around discussing something ( I can’t remember what ) when I took a sip of wine and screamed…..

this bee was in my glass and bit my tongue!!!
I am allergic to bee stings so right away tried to scrape off the stinger if it in fact was still there…..

my achy breaky tongue.....
…after scraping the tongue with a credit card to clean it of stingers I then sat with an ice cube in my mouth for an hour or so. Of course Colin poured me a ‘fresh’ glass of wine which helped the pain go away. It was a great excuse for a take out dinner!!
