Just hanging around enjoying life!

So much to see and do and so little time to do it all.

Visit with Susan & Dwight, who moved to Mazatlan last year, from Portland.

all the fruit you can eat

Does Gary looked relaxed enough?

..and then there is Craig, who just can't seem to get the 'hang' of it!

Things are quite relaxed at our house!

Photo taken for George...BBQ coho salmon...very yummy! Thanks for catching the fish Colin.

Pot Shopping – Part 2!

The other day we drove into Mazatlan to buy essentials.  We probably won’t have to drive in again for 4-6 weeks.

Window washers are on every corner.

No matter that your window was cleaned at the last intersection, they 'try' to do it at each stop. Anything for a few pesos.

Colin was driving and I was not navigating and we got lost.  So much fun when this happens as you never now what you will find.

Yes, we were in the wrong neighborhood!

We found a wonderful vivero but the prices were rather high so we kept going and somehow ended up at the marina.  Then we headed south along the Golden Zone which it rather empty of tourists right now.  We decided to check out some ceramic plant pots but we were on the wrong side of the street.  In the process of turning around we came across a wonderful place selling macetas & plants.  This is an empty lot that a young entrepreneur  has taken over for as long as he can.  It is best reached by turning right just after Burger King ( Applebee’s is on the left hand side ) and driving past Starbucks. Park and you will astounded at the selection.  I felt like it was Christmas morning.  We certainly gathered up as much as we could.

Once we had all we wanted we negotiated a price and everyone was happy.

Now to pack it all in!

They also sell soil here but it is 90 pesos per large bag versus the mix of soil & sand that Chava is selling for 30 pesos.  Two very different types of soil. From here we moved onto Sam’s Club, Mega, and a few other places before heading home.  The road is much better now that is has been graded but still rough in spots and very dusty. The other place we bought pots at was just south of Villa Union on the MEX 15 libre, located between KM 248 & 249.  It is a furniture shop located on the East side of the road that sells large macetas.  They wanted 300 pesos each but we got them down to 200 pesos.  There is a nursery not far from the airport road turn off  but it is difficult to find but if you want to check it out just ask me for directions.

Too much activity for the girls!

Quite the load.....

Marjorie I am sorry to tell you that I killed your gardenia, actually I think maybe our resident iguana had something to do with it.  You now have a much nicer & larger plant that is likely to bloom just as you arrive.

Isn't he cute?

Injured!

Not us or the girls but our home on wheels.

It wasn’t the road that got us but rather the boulders lining the road after we did the left at the Bienvenudos sign.  It is somewhat cleared up but another quick left had us scrape the bottom of a basement door!  Hopefully we can get it repaired here on the Isla!

By the way the road has been totally graded and is in much better condition than when we arrived.  We drove it twice this past week in the car. The road is now wider as much of the vegetation has been cut back.  The grading of the road covered all the lovely blooms along the road in dust.

S E X in the RV!

We are still having night visits from our resident iguana but now we think he may have a mate.  Last night as were having a late dinner dinner Colin spotted a wee one scurry across the carpet.  Actually it was more of a gecko but maybe it was (note the past tense) an iguana baby!!!

Just to get your mind off that visual of iguanas mating in our rig here is a photo of Colin washing our RV.
