Que pasa on the Isla!

Can you believe it?  We missed the whale!  Apparently there was a whale playing out in out bay a few days ago and we were out!  Life has been fairly quiet around here especially with the lack of cruise ship passengers visiting Stone Island.  There is one in today, the only one in this week.

This guy lives here and likes the quiet.

The fog was back this morning.  Most afternoons we are still getting a fair amount of wind.

This fellow started out in front of Carmelita's and went half way to Estrella!

No complaints from the locals, lots of wave action!

There is so much to keep us busy here on the Isla, we almost rarely cross over to Mazatlan.

There is no bank or ATM on the Isla but we can put pesos on our cell phones here.

Last week there was an impromptu baseball game between the locals and the rvers.  Lots of yelling and cheering.

If we run out of activities, we can watch Pablo painting the wall.

But there is so much to do….

Art lessons..

Yoga

Cleaning the awning with a power washer, can you see the before & after?

Watch this one try to figure out how to get the hummingbird nectar!

Or sometimes I just sit and watch my garden grow.

I love the color on these blossoms.

Tick, tick, tock ! ! !

The sands of time.  Just as the ocean waves never stop nor does time. Tick, tock, tick tock!  It’s March 1st!  Where have the past 4 months gone?  We arrived here November 1, 2010 and now we are down to our last 4 weeks.  I’ve been blue the last few days, perhaps that’s why I haven’t posted.  Lots to think about.  My Dad was to have had his second hip replacement surgery today but in all the pretesting to be sure he was up to the surgery at age 80 they discovered a problem in his heart.  So last week he had an angiogram with the intent of putting in a stent.  I worried.  It showed his heart was fine and he was good to have the surgery.  So why did they do the test, an unnecessary strain on his body and now he is is back on the waitlist for surgery!!  The medical profession often baffles me.

As time passes things are changing.  Colin is getting ready to leave on the 6th to attend the International Guitar Festival in Culiacan.  I already know how much I will miss him.  Meanwhile we had 5 Rv’s leave last Sunday, all heading North.  There were simultaneous farewell happy hours in both parks.  We were treated to a great show by a pod of dolphins, a buen viaje bonus.

These two surfers seem to be saying, "look there are 15 more !!".

It was difficult to capture them in the camera..they were out a ways.

Then the next morning the exodus began.  It is sad as there are another three rigs from this park leaving next week.  I think the sadness comes in the realization that we won’t be seeing these friends for another 7 months and perhaps some not at all.

Adios Jessie & Gary....

Do you see Caeli under the table?

Yesterday at low tide we went down to the Puesta del Sol for a late lunch ( and as it turned out, dinner…YUM! ).  A perfect place to lift my spirits.  Such a beautiful beach and the wonderful people of Mexico.  What could be better?  We watched a family playing ball while waiting for their food.

First they had to 'fix' the net.

The love of life and family was so very evident.

Carmeh was certainly enjoying life to the fullest!

We spoke of many things but most importantly was how we felt that this was home.  I know that we had said the same thing about Acapulco in all the winters we had spent there but times are changing and now we would not feel to safe traveling so far south, especially to Acapulco.  Mazatlan is a great location; only a 2 day drive from the USA and close to an airport if there was a need to fly home and we feel very safe here.  So I had better get on with my day and enjoy every second of my last 28 days.  Adios for now.

Que pasa in Mazatlan…

Spring is on the way.  It is slowly warming up.  Now if we could only stop that coolish wind!!!!!!

Are those flowers and leaf buds ?

We couldn’t help but notice this pulmonia driver’s special gas pedal!

Innovative to say the least

It works, you just have to place your foot just so.

Over the past week or so Colin has spent some time checking out some students in front of the music school…

Another day we had a lovely fresh mahi mahi lunch in the Golden Zone where Colin met….

..a 27 year old double yellow headed parrot. The owner couldn't believe that the bird let Colin rub it's head. This bird usually bites if touched. Colin the bird whisperer.....of course this made us sad as we recalled our sweet Mexican red headed Chikka!

While I’m getting spruced up Colin is out wondering around Centro eating ice cream!  He did get a cut too.

Good job Antonio!

Did someone say Plazuela Machado and lunch?

We just can't enough of the vivid colors.

and I can't get enough of well, you know....

Heading home we were once again treated to life’s differences, the haves and the have nots…..not sure I would chose a Princess Cruise these days.

Pleasure or hard work....

We were able to wish a friend a Happy 17th riding home….

Feliz Cumpleaños!

Cali update !

We’ve received a few emails from the Amigos de los Animales Shelter on our MexiCALI Rose. Here is the latest!  Looks like she will be ready for adoption next week so pass the word to your Mazatlan friends.

Hi Contessa

The little girl got her ears cleaned today by Aunties Carol and Sharon. Most of the fleas are gone and worms are being eliminated.  She had lots of both. She is getting a bit more energy and starting to act a little bit more like a puppy.  She is not mixed in with the others yet – not for another week when she could be vaccinated. Please refer anyone interested in an animal to the shelter. The puppies and kittens are just starting to arrive.

Regards

Carol and Amigos de los Animales.

Where have we been?

Here, here and there.  Places travelled in this RV.  What you have to remember is that we are not retired and only travel 5 .5 months per year, which is probably why we haven’t gotten to the Eastern provinces and states.  Mexico calls to us every October.
