This is not for the faint of heart.
This is for those who love going to the dentist and getting a tooth extracted.
Photos and model courtesy Colin Jewall who really really wanted me to post this. I just had to do it!!
Beware, some of the following photos are simply put….not pleasant.
As part of his effort to address his tinnitus Colin discovered that he had an abscess tooth, which is strange, as this was a root canalled tooth, obviously gone bad. The root canal had been done over 15 years ago. Colin had been having some trouble with this particular tooth but nothing could be found until he saw a dental specialist a few weeks ago. A CAT scan revealed that the tooth was so badly infected that the sinus beneath his eye was close to becoming infected and the tooth needed extract ASAP. If it was me I would have said, give me drugs, put me to sleep and wake me when I have a new tooth. But no not my husband. You have been warned…..

He actually looks happy...

Pre freezing I presume.

Dr. Townsend and his ornery patient.

I can't watch.....how gross...

You do realize that Colin is taking these photos....

OMG!!! Too much for me!

The tooth was so bad that the 'material' ( as in pus & decay ) had solidified above the tooth.

We aren't sure yet if the removal has helped the tinnitus but it is sure has to improve something in his body! How can one have such stuff in there and not know it. My poor baby! Dr. Townsend said he has never seen anything like it before.

Payment in cookies for the dentist with the sweet tooth!.

That is how she started her email to me just a fews weeks ago. My friend Jannose Lebray, a definite blast from the past. It has been over 12 years since we were last in touch. Thank goodness she Googled me, found this blog and from there came her email. What a wonderful surprise! We have known each other for over 30 years, perhaps closer to 35 years. I was there for the birth of her first son and again her second son just a few years later. We all lived in Alberta then and use to vacation here in the Okanagan at a time share on Kalamalka Lake. She was one those great friends that you have in life, she taught me a great deal starting with how to make the best fried egg sandwiches ever! In fact I once remember asking her what that thing was in the back yard at her parents. A 5th wheel she patiently explained to me. Perhaps that is where my love of RVing comes from? Over time I married, I moved to Vancouver, moved to Tsawwassen, to Ladner and then back here to the Okanagan. Colin and I were quite busy with the business and when we weren’t working we were gone in the rv. Not much free time to socialize or to look up old friends. Basically we were either working or away Rving. Jannose and Colin ( both of our husbands have the same name ) were busy raising their family and in the past few years have retired and now have time to travel. Once again I thank you Jannose for taking the extra effort to find us. While on a road trip through this area they dropped by for lunch this past Monday. It seemed like we had never been parted, yes lots of details to catch up on, but in general and with the things that count in life we are all on the same page. The four hours they were here just flew past, it was so difficult to say goodbye but we now know that the future will hold many visits whether here in Canada, the US or even Mexico. It was a blast from the past Jannose and thanks so much for creating the blast! See you soon!

We were having such a great visit that we forgot to taken photos. This was shot just as they were leaving.

A year ago yesterday my life changed forever. Lately I seem to be on the low side of energy. I have so much to share with you but right now it is difficult getting words to paper. I have spent the past few days reflecting on the past, my present and the future. I have come a long way and can hardly wait to head south in October, my true expression of freedom. Meanwhile I am enjoying the little things, like watching my flowers grow and can almost taste my soon to be ready tomatoes, the sun on my body as I walk around the block and cuddles from the girls. I am thankful that the past year has brought Colin to the kitchen. I have to say that he has always helped out but for him to plan, create, cook and serve dinner with no input from me at all, what a huge treat! We both enjoyed it.

A shot of the quiet birthday celebration on the 22nd.

Gorgeous lilies....merci du fond de mon coeur mes amis!

A special walk motivated by love. Milles gracias!

This is how the palapa has looked for a few years. We think that with our RV moved onto the site, it will be the perfect fit. Lots of shade and space to visit or have guitar concerts or a movie night under the stars or lots and lots of other ideas!
However the palapa is gone!!! While moving their RV out the current site renters (for the past 5 years) somehow managed to dislodge the palapa and it is no longer there.
When I first got word I was devastated. The only reason we had changed RV sites at Tres Amigos for this coming winter and forever more, was so we could have the palapa! Not many others wanted the palapa but it was our deal breaker. So we gave up our lovely site, transplanted some flowers, and began dreaming. We bought extra tables & chairs, ordered a wind/dust screen to run the length of the fence, and while in Quartzite on the way home found the perfect carpeting. Now what. Well reconstruction is under negotiation but with our pesos!! What to do?
Meanwhile we have received word that our specially selected coco palm has finally been planted. Just as the rainy season starts, which will give it the much needed water to make it grow big & tall.

Our tree has been planted..looks great...hmm, I think we need a palapa.

…just another day in the lives of the 5C’s?? You tell me.
Colin left at 4:40AM this morning (Sunday) to get a spectacular sunrise shot for a client. Mission accomplished he came back home to get us all up, and to enjoy the morning with a coffee when he quietly said “have a look at Caeli!” . I almost jumped out of bed.
While he held her and obviously took her photo I called our vet, not on call this weekend. So I called them ( Mr & Mrs Vet) at home, no answer. So then I called Dr. Susan on her cell, no answer. So I called him on his cell….now this is serious stuff cuz he does horses and big stuff like that and even when she is not on call he passes us off to Susan. Gulp! But as you can see Caeli was in very bad shape. By now she was looking worse. So Dr. A answers his cell, he always does….he was at the polo field…’bring the dog to me, stat!”
Meanwhile Caeli is rapidly becoming more and more swollen….I figured it had to be a bee sting. Colin drove way over the speed limit to get to Dr. A who had his medical truck with him. I am beginning to lose count of the number of emergency drives we have mad. I stayed home with Carmeh. Colin called me 3 times during the 15 minute drive, he was worried Caeli wouldn’t make it, that her airways were collapsing….they found Dr. A, she got a shot and they were headed home. Meanwhile, Carmeh began to vomit….all over….stress or what??? Once home it took Caeli a few hours to settle down & for Carmeh to relax. Colin and I looked at the clock, it was only 10:00AM, the beginning of a long day.
I am happy to say that things stayed settled and we enjoyed our first 32C day.
I noticed that my clematis were finally blooming. This is a good year for them.

Funny how they start blooming at the top and work their way down the vine.
