Who came first?

…the chicken or the iguana?

Who's turf is this anyway?

I have a long tongue....but I have a sharp beak!

Hmmm....

Okay, you win.

We spent yesterday doing stuff.....Did I ever tell you about Eric? He is an RV technician from Winnipeg, Manitoba who lives in Mazatlan during the winter and makes house calls. Lucky us! We have been having problems for close to 2 years with a sluggish retracting front left jack and usually have used a shovel to put into place. Colin thought we should give Eric a try and he fixed it, rather creatively! He drilled hole lower down and here in the photo he is stretching the jack spring while Colin inserts bits of wood and other stuff to lengthen the spring enought to reattach. Tough job for Eric, poor guy!! However the process worked.

We got Lupe back yesterday afternoon to add another post to our temporary front palapa in the hopes of making it permanent. The extra post just might allow it to survive the summer winds and storms.

...and then there were eight, four RV's left in each park....adios Peggy & Robin and Kitty & Mike! Merle had already headed out and we got to hug Tris adios as she headed out for her last ATV run down the beach! They left this morning!

I found these shots in my files from last November and just had to share:)

Ramblings…..

Sunday, March 25….a great day outside, lots of sun, many many locals on the beach today.  I was very impressed by how many picked up all the trash around them before they left.  A huge improvement over past years!  5:10 PM and still 80F!!  I will have to try and remember this warmth next week:(

Colin thoughts….He went out at 9PM to enjoy our last Sunday night of Cantina music, our ‘last Hey, Hey, Hey’!!!    The sounds of the ocean and the music…that is what he will miss.

She has had breakfast, an afternoon snack and an hour before dinner Caeli is giving me a clear message....that is why when we get back to Canada she soon becomes known as 'the porker'!!

Monday, March 26….the horses just came past, come right up to our wall, what a sight, morning after morning!  We are soooo lucky to be here.

Such a freedom....

Tuesday, March 27….had a massage this morning, got the plant pots stored and spent the afternoon with a great book in the sun sipping Pinot Grigio….life is perfect!

Just some afternoon loving in the sun....

Wednesday, March 28th…great beach walk this morning.  The heat of the sun feels so good, seems like the water is warming up.  Colin went into town for his last massage.  Guess that’s it for the pangas and pulmonias till November.

....a so so shot of a hummingbird enjoying my yellow aloe flowers this morning.

Thursday, March 29th….time to get moving just a tad faster in the packing up mode!  Reading other blogs and getting emails from friends heading directly North, it is cold, very cold and wet!  C’est la vie!!

Had a lovely farewell meal yesterday with Carol and Gary at a very very new restaurant here on the Isla, Island Beach. Menus should be there today! The food is excellent, now they just have to learn how to make a margarita!

PAIN FREE !

Would you not like to be pain free?  Who wouldn’t?

I think most people have some aches and pains, some minor, others major.

This review is from: Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain (Paperback)

Written by an author who has suffered with chronic pain himself, Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain takes a specific stand on why you’re hurting and what you should do about it. In a nutshell, the idea is that chronic pain is due to imbalances in the body- mainly those of posture and alignment, which can be corrected through proper motions the book calls “E-cises”. Here’s a few highlights…

-the book starts you out with three chapters that go over its main ideas
-from there, you go to specific chapters for specific problems (like the foot, the back, the shoulder, etc.)
-you’ll find lots of good pictures that do a good job of showing you how to do the exercises
-you don’t really need a lot of equipment to do the exercises- mainly some pillows or something to rest your arms and legs on
-there are routines for maintenance, as well as specific sports (like soccer, football, etc.)

Mostly good stuff here, as you can see, and an all around sensible approach I thought. I did find the exercises simple enough, and will probably help relax a lot of pain sufferers to boot.

The negatives? Not many. The only thing I think that might turn off some people, is the time involved- sometimes its recommended you do them for 45 minutes to an hour. But, you get out of it what you put into it.

Colin and I were gifted this book at Christmas by a RMT ( Registered Massage Therapist from Canada ).  As many of you know Colin has been suffering tinnitus for a few years and he was willing to try anything for some relief.  Once he started doing the exercises for about 15 minutes per day he quickly experienced less ringing.   Of course we shared our information with others.  We purchased a second copy of the book and have been passing it around Tres Amigos RV Park.  At least a dozen here have started doing the exercises and immediately found a bit of relief to a great amount of relief from their pain.  One fellow was able to start playing volleyball.  One person was totally relieved of continuous back pain and was able to resume her normal activities including bike riding.  We also mentioned this to a few friends back home and in the USA who purchased the book and  were happy with the results.  One person recovering from knee surgery found the relative  knee exercises helpful in regaining movement.  Even her physiotherapist was surprised and is looking into this book.  All these people  were helped by our word of mouth in two months!!!  Quite amazing!

The causes of chronic pain are based on common sense and well documented in the book. The related exercises depending on your area of pain are well explained, simple and can be done anywhere without the need to purchase any special equipment.  However you do need to do the exercises daily and to keep doing them.

When Colin went to Culican in early March it quickly became clear to him that with only 4-5 hours of sleep per night he would have to forgo his tinnitus exercises.  He wasn’t surprised that the almost gone ringing in his ears returned.  It has taken close to two weeks but he is slowly regaining control over the ringing.  In a recent massage with the RMT who gave us the book, she mentioned that his posture was in fact changing, that the muscles, etc. were allowing things to shift, thus alleviating the pressure that likely had caused the tinnitus.  Thinking back Colin realizes that both his work and his guitar playing likely created an abnormal posture which resulted in his problem.

The wonderful thing about the book is that it addresses various areas of the body from wrists to shoulders, backs, ankles, neck, etc.  Pain Free can be purchased online for as little as $6.00USD.  There is also a website which discusses the book as well as many clinics located throughout the USA and in Mexico City and Japan.  By navigating the Egoscue website you will be able to discover for yourself the many benefits of this simple technique.

We are so captivated by the facts that this Egoscue Method works that we are travelling to the San Diego clinic for a session with Pete Egoscue himself for a personal evaluation and personally chosen exercise program.  If you can’t get to a clinic personally you still can be evaluated online.  There is now even an Egoscue University where therapists from all over come for certification in the Egoscue Method.

So if you wish to become Pain Free, please check into it.  We will never forget Mary who gifted us this most wonderful of all gifts.  Life without pain.

How to catch a crab!

This is a typical beach day for us, one that the girls are going to miss.

Somewhere along the beach Carmeh will sniff out a buried crab and start to dig. If you look closely you can see the sand flying.

Basically Carmeh does all the work while Caeli cheers her on, the barking drives me nuts sometimes!

Then Carmeh pulls out the crab, that white thing in the middle. It happens in the blink of an eye. She gives a shake and the crab goes flying usually breaking into a few pieces.

Caeli goes in for the final kill and won't let Carmeh near the crab again.

At this point Colin grabs what he can of the crab to throw into the ocean. The girls do enjoy the waves and trying to find the pieces in the water. We are now being very very careful to not let htem eat any part of the crab. No more sick girls.

Just a typical beach day for the 5C’s!!

Tres Amigos RV Park

Here is is, almost the end of March and the RVers are slowly departing.  As of March 22 we were down to 11 rigs.  The sun is still shining and the water is great but alas so many are leaving.  The good news is that it has once again been another wonderful last 5 months and  most of the group plan to return starting the end of October, just a few months away.  It has been an uneventful year for RV’s travelling in Mexico and hopefully that means that more will come visit Tres Amigos next season. I know of a few couples planning to come down here to the Isla for their first visit to Mexico.

The locals on Isla de la Piedra are so good to us, catering to all our needs and even our wants, going so far as to bring things from Mazatlan to us here on the Isa if we require it.  Sometimes we are just too laid back to take the 10 minutes to go to Centro:)  We now even have 2 restaurants open in the evening.

Easter Week known as Semena Santa starts April 1st so that will be good for business.  Then about about week later, April 11- 15 it will be Motorcycle week. Things are hopping here at Tres Amigos, on the Isla and in Mazatlan.  Yeah Mexico.  We do love you.

Before getting our RV, Colin and I use to take 6 trips per year, all over the world, but now that we have found Mexico, we are only travelling here.  Tres Amigos RV Park has become our second home.  This was our third winter here at Tres Amigos RV Park and our tenth winter in Mexico.  Lucky us.

It really doesn't get much better than this.....

For those thinking of coming to Tres Amigos here on the Isla or even just to Mazatlan be sure to check out my previous blog posts for photos of the RV Park, the beach, the area in general and information regarding insurance, security, travel with pets and how to cross from the USA into Mexico.
