A month ago today we left our home at Tres Amigos RV Park on Stone Island in Mazatlan.

A week ago today we sold our home here in Holiday Park Resort in Kelowna.

So much has happened in the past month from having our big rig towed due to a breakdown on I5  to having a voting contest to help chose the siding colour for our new home.

For the most part it is a very happy time for us even with the deadlines re getting the construction going, but there have been a few sad incidents.  April was a very sad month with three friends passing, suddenly and quickly.

Judy our friend and winter RV neighbour passed while driving her RV back to Canada. I had written of this in April. Judy loved red so these tulips from my garden are for her. Judy was a day younger than Colin.

We had only been home a few days when we heard that our friend Dwight who lives in Mazatlan died suddenly of a heart failure on April 22nd. He was only 58. I will always remember our last visit with him on the beach of the Isla. He was so full of life and happy.

Then yesterday, I was scanning the small local newspaper and read that yet another friend had passed.  Ken Manly who left Holiday Park about a year ago suddenly passed on April 3rd.  He was only 66.  I love the last line in his obituary.  Ken’s on an island now, somewhere in Margaritaville.

Three friends, 66, 61 and 58 all dying within 19 days of each other, all heart related.  What does this mean?  Are you taking care of your body?  Are you eating properly?  Please love each other, hug each other, call a friend, a family member today.  Life is short.  Make every hour count.

Marathon weekend…..

…I feel like I got out of bed this morning… still running!!  Saturday we left the girls at home as we raced around town for six hours choosing kitchen appliances, washer, dryer, bathroom stuff, bedroom stuff and packing stuff, etc.

This is a really cool shower. It glides up and down the pole, you can lower it to a sore shoulder area and turn on the pulsing jets So many details to think about. We lucked out and in 2 places got the manager to help us and things moved quickly and efficeintly. So many new products out there.

Our last stop was to check if they carried our current mattress which we love, in a king which we are upgrading to. They don't. In fact mattress manufacturers change their procuct annually as we learned. So we were forced to do the bed hop thing. I really liked this one and had a nap...yes this is our final selection.

I don’t even remember Friday night or what we had for dinner.  I am going to bed early and  now getting up early.  The days are a blur.  Sunday was our day to work around the two sites.  I had planned to get some invoicing done and didn’t.  That is my next thing today….we need to get some money coming in and soon!

I started on the inside....

...while Colin emptied both sheds and consolidated the contents into garage sale, garbage and the rest back into the one shed at our current home.

The lake site shed was dismantled by Robert and moved section by section to his lake site. Once our cement work is done we will get a new shed.

It was good to get all the outside stuff done yesterday as it rained all night.  Colin tells me that I fell asleep eating dinner!!!  Have a good day everyone.

From Mexico to Texas to Kelowna

Wonderful things are happening in Mazatlan.  A group of expats have created a community centre from a vision in just a few short months.  There is something for everyone to enjoy from theatre, to a child’s area, to a coffee bar with more to come.  The entire evolution of the process is best explained in Nancy’s blog post complete with photos.  If you are interested in reading about the dream and the process just click  on the first and second post.  I find it amazing that so much has evolved in such a small amount of time, well done folks.  I can hardly wait to check it all out in November.

On a different note and somewhat ironic one, a Canadian gangster from our very own province of British Columbia has been murdered near Puerto Vallarta.  He was at a high level in his organization that dealt with drugs and guns yet was murdered.  Apparently he thought he would be protected in Mexico.  As long as they keep disposing of each other, I say carry on!!  Now the RCMP are worried about a possible escalation of gang violence here in B.C. Read the story here.  The guy even had a RV that someone tried to bomb last January in Whistler.

Moving on to Texas where the wild flowers are blooming everywhere. Fellow RVing blogger Colleen who happens to have 3 doxies attended a Get’away Gals Trailer Tour and shared her tour by photo essay on her blog.

Flamingo Trailer Park

..the inside of one of the units. The trailers are all so cute so if you have a chance be sure to check out Colleens post.

That brings us right back here to Kelowna.  I had a question from a reader wanting to know why we were leaving this house?  We do love it here and it was suppose to be our forever home but to have a home right on the lake is a dream come true.  We already own the lake site so it was just a question of being able to sell this place which we did 6 days ago.  In order to get our new home built and ready for the end of September, we have to have all our plans and details in place by May 1st hence our hectic pace.

If you have not already done so you can help us by voting on the colour of the siding for the new home.

Fun day!

We had so much fun yesterday, from buying a new storage shed to getting lost in Penticton and ending up at our window manufacturer by accident and that opened up a whole new world on things for the house.  We did get to the cabinet company and we now know more that we want to but so much fun!!

Our third stop of the morning was meeting this gal to get her used moving boxes and 5 bags of packing paper....we recycle the best we can!

However that left things somewhat cramped for the girls....and off we went to Penticton.

I have heard of double hung but not in windows...we will give it a try. They open from the bottom up or from the top down.

This is the latest gadget to replace the conventional round turning Lazy Susan! You open the cupboard door and it pulls forward 2 baskets from the far back as well as 2 baskets just behind the door where that steel piece is....for some reason those 2 baskets were missing. Very cool but at $1000.00!!!!!! No gracias senor.

Lovely relaxing drive back along the lake making plans as we drove.

We made a quick stop to pick up siding samples and I got to my massage with minutes to spare.

I must correct my first photo on yesterdays post, twas a goose and not a duck!  Guess I am not use to posting so early in the morning.  My apologies to the Ducks and to you folks and thanks for the correction.

This morning we awoke to 0C and a touch of frost…..furnace and fireplace both on full blast.  Still better than last April 28, 2011 when we has snow on the hills. We are off to spend more money today….such a tight timeline.

I appreciate all your votes and have decided to let the voting continue on the green or red siding colour.  One of our friends voted one colour and later in the evening her husband voted the other colour.  Hmmm do you think this is a trend…so get the rest of your family involved.  For instance, Ken…do you think Margot would vote that same colour??  I want more votes before we decide!

Here is a shot of the samples which still doesn't capture the exact colour but certainly better than yesterdays shots. You are allowed to change your vote.

Where we are living we are limited to what they call earth tone colors and most of the homes are using these colors.

This is what we have now, well for a few more weeks anyway!

New things…

Aren't they cute? Thanks to Robert for capturing the first new family of geese on Duck Lake this season. I guess they were out enjoying our blustery rainy day yesterday.

We are going for the open look in the new house and realized that we will have very little wall space for all our paintings and framed photos!!  Instead we will just be looking out at the lake and nature through many windows.

I have seen this Yellow Rumped Warbler flitting about the past few days. A first sighting for me in this area.

We went to see the showroom at our builders’ but he did not have the samples we are looking for.  Needless to say we are looking for different things.  We are off to Penticton this morning, about a 90 minute drive, to checkout the cabinet factory as our choices are needed right away re type of wood and colour, height, width, etc.  I get to end the day with my first massage in over five weeks, that should keep me motivated.

Meanwhile I need your input…..I want you to vote on the colour of our siding, I think I know what we want but your input will be fun.  If you can’t figure out how to vote via the comment box, just send me an email and I will include it into the comments for you with your vote.  Email address is at the top right of the page.  The photos are only for colour choice and are not the style of home.

Choice #1, Ivy Green with beige trim.

Choice #2, Colonial Red with beige trim....not black.

Choice #2 would look more like this with the beige trim.

Looking forward to your comments.
