Quiet day yesterday!

Yesterday  was a quiet day on the Isla, not too many visitors, actually more vendors that tourists.

We invited our new friends and neighbors over for a quiet happy hour.  I find than when you have too many people over that I miss out on much of the conversation as I am busy playing hostess.   This way I get to have a good visit and get to know my guests.

Roger and Chris are wonderful people and we hope they will come back to the Isla next season.

Chris and Roger are wonderful people and we look forward to many more visits with them.  We are working on them to come back next season for much more than just two weeks.

Would you look at my facial expression.  Seems I can’t pose and smile without a sour face.

...more natural pose as Chris and I chat up a storm.

Yes I am wearing a shawl.  There has been a lot of sore throats and coughing going on all around us, even one case of pneumonia and a few cases of infected lungs. I refuse to get sick and am staying away from everyone and taking every precaution that I can.

Almost at the very very last moment we were treated to a show by Mother Nature.

I think today will be another quiet day…..if I don’t talk I won’t cough.  Colin plans to stay well away from me.  He has major plans for next weekend and does not want to take a chance on catching even a cold.

So…Chris comes to the Isla…

…and misses……

...a non sunset event.

Thank goodness he arrived after dark and I didn’t have to explain a lack of sunset.

We met him at the panga with a vodka on the rocks.  Unfortunately he was too late to see much of the Isla or any boondocking sites here that he might enjoy in the future. Chris and his partner are Mexican RVers who enjoy boondocking above all else and blog about it among many other interesting things happening in Mexico.

Chris is an educator and suddenly had 3 days of work in the area, a day each in Los Mochis, Culiacan and here in Mazatlan.  He had hoped to arrive sooner but it was not to be but he did want to see our set up.  After a few drinks and snacks we had dinner, fresh dorado from the fish market.

The photo was an afterthought. We were too busy talking to think about it.

We continued our visit out by the fire. Yes it was warm enough to sit without a jacket. Colin played beautiful music while we enjoyed the sound of the surf and the lights of Mazatlan in the distance.

Chris thinks that Juan would really love to come RV here some day. Who wouldn't?

So sad to say adios after so few hours together.

We have been in touch with each other over the years via our blogs and some emails so it was very special to meet Chris in person.  Unfortunately 11PM came much too quickly and he did have to teach at 8AM today. I was sad waving adios at the panga but I do know that we will see each other soon.  Thanks for taking the time to visit the Isla Chris.

Que Pasa?

We had a power failure yesterday which I think is a legitimate excuse to not have made a post.  So today I bring you bits & pieces from the past two days.

On Tuesday afternoon we were treated to a display of how a caballero breaks in a horse on the beach.

This fellow is returning his horses home while a fisherman just begins his work of putting out a net.

Blue skies Friday morning and another sail boat in the bay. That is the Baja ferry coming into port.

Always so much to see without leaving our site.  So much to hear, a strolling musician walking down the beach singing to himself, the sound of the surf crashing, a car driving past playing some great Mexican music, the wind in the palms……

Alas one of my favorite hibiscus plants is dying.

Ishmael thought it might be bugs in the roots but it just seems to be a sick plant.

My zinnias are attracting many beautiful critters. Love the blue on this butterfly.

One of the best parts of Wednesday was the arrival of blog readers from California. Roger and Chris have been following my blog for some time and it seems that I enticed them to make the drive down to Tres Amigos RV Park. So far they love the Isla and of course their front row ocean site. Welcome to Stone Island friends. They are here for two weeks.

...and then it was dinner by candlelight last night. Another great 2 days in paradise.

The very very best part is that we still have over two months here.  Still so much to see and to experience.

What goes behind some shots?

The other day I went out to see what Colin was up to.

...and found him on his behind.

That is what was behind this shot 😉

Just another day in paradise

From fog on Saturday....

...to high heat for swimming on Sunday and Monday. The weather could not be more perfect. Lots of people in the water.

There is always something to do on the Isla.

Somehow this little fish ended up on our carpet.

The fish ended up quite far under our palapa. Was it a big bird? But then how did the fish get to the front right of the chair.

My flowers from seeds are finally growing.

Pretty white butterfly.

Carmeh & Caeli are still hanging out together.

Just another sunset and so ends another day in paradise.
