Follow up…

...what a huge family. Twelve little ones. For sure no egg addling going on on Duck Lake.

I spent countless hours on the phone with UPS on Monday.  It seems that all of our tax information went missing!!  Our accountant called and said he had received nothing!  I called UPS and then the games began.  As I sweated thru the process I was contemplating what would happen.  All the original information was in the one package.  Finally the package was located at the depot inKelowna.  It never left the building. Our tax information was received by our accountant in Vancouver at 7:40AM today and our personal taxes have been done and paid!  That was very close as today is the personal tax deadline here in Canada.  Our personal taxes are closely linked to our company year end so they have to be completed together but we have another month to finalize the company tax.

Meanwhile I decided to modernize and start doing our provincial and federal monthly tax online.  I finally got the PST up and running but I am still struggling with setting up the GST.  We have a tax number so I don’t know why I have to go thru all of the Social Insurance garbage.  I have used up all my patience for a Monday.  Wow and I get to do these things for the rest of the week.  What fun I am having. Not.

We don't look like this anymore.

The highway we came home on was totally shut down for a while, still getting snow storms.  Seems like everyone is getting snow or rain showers.

It was too cold in November to finish putting in our wind turbines so Rick chose yesterday to complete the task.

He thought it was much warmer that it was in November.

I don't. We were only 10C today yet it is suppose to be 24C on Saturday!!

I ended up at the walk in clinic again Monday afternoon.  Still red and itchy.  My local massage lady refused to touch me as she did not want to stir up the histamines.  The DR. offered little hope of discovering the cause and suggested a diet of potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower.  Yeah right!  I used aloe vera last night which did help some, not as good as right out of my garden on the Isla though.  The good news is that I have been referred for allergy testing and they can see me as early as September!  I am still taking my two prescription antihistamines.

I did have allergies as a child and had to get shots every week.  However I believe it was more pollen and pet types of allergies.  I well be checking with you in a few days Mom, so think about it.  By the way I only got the message that you had called me on Saturday, yesterday, 48 hours later.  Colin is not exactly into the working mode yet, can’t even take a message.

We woke up this morning to snow in the lower valley.

So ends April, let’s see what May will bring.

Never had hives before !

Before I start….this is NOT tick related.

Yahoo, got the year end completed by 2PM on Friday and it will be delivered via UPS to our accountant in Vancouver first thing this morning.

Colin spent the weekend sorting and tidying and putting our house back together.  I finally emptied 5 boxes and got my desk organized.  Of course I have a stack of work to do but I will be sitting at an organized desk. I can sit at my desk and see the lake, perfect!  It was nice to see the dining room table again

This was a quick shot as they bounced past. The winds over the weekend were at 30km/h with gusts to 50km/h. The lake had whitecaps and the waterfowl were having a roller coaster of a time. By the look of these babies the egg addling program is not active on Duck Lake. Thank goodness.

By the way we have managed to keep the geese off our lawn but could not stop them from landing on the flat sunroom roof at 5:30AM Sunday where they proceeded to wake us up.  It was funny even at that time of the morning.

More cleaning and sorting on Sunday including the girls.

What happened?

It started with a red rash Friday morning and full blown hives 24 hours later. A quick visit to a walk in clinic and 2 prescriptions later has reduced them somewhat.

...still dealing with the issue midday today.

I have a call into my vein doctor.  Could this be a reaction to my vein injections?  I don’t think it is a gluten reaction as I have been extremely careful of what goes into my mouth.

5C’s Que Pasa

We haven’t stopped since we got back a week ago.

Wednesday I had the veins injected in my right leg and on Thursday I had the left leg done. I didn't get my veins attended to last year as we were busy with selling our home and building a new one.. I have to do this for 3 weeks in a row. Wearing the compression stocking is not fun but worth it to have legs cleared of veins and spider veins. Our medical system covers all but $50.00 per treatment so $300.00 in total is a fair price to pay.

One of the first things you have to do after having the veins injected is to put on a full leg compression stocking and walk for 30 minutes. This is to circulate the chemical through the veins. There is a nice little park with a walk along a marsh and I usually do my walk there. It was a nice day though chilly, I was still shivering with my sweater on. I thought how nice it was that this fellow could still give his dog a walk.

I never saw one goose, I guess the egg addling program is working.

This walk is a great way to take my mind off all the to do's even if it is only a short walk. I couldn't tell if these ducks had a nest or not.

The RV finally got put into the storage compound. It is not far and we can easily access anything we have forgotten or need to return to the RV. The golf cart is perfect for carrying things back and forth.

The Ajijic area of Mexico produces wonderful berries but we never see them in Mazatlan, they are shipped to Canada. I will have to enjoy them here.

Now as to the tick situation.  I really had expected more of a laugh rather than a serious response.  I suspect that one of the girls brought the tick inside on their body and into our bed where we cuddle at night.  As the girls are on preventative tick meds the tick could have been killed or was dying and ended up tucked inside my belly button!  Or I might have picked it up trying on clothes last week in the US but that is unlikely. The tick was not fat so it was not full of blood.  I have picked ticks off of Colin and the girls over the years and I was not alarmed. I just didn’t like it in my navel.  I did check with Dr. Goggle and I do not believe that any of my symptoms are related to Lyme disease.

Please don’t laugh….

…it really is very serious or could have been.

I found a tick embedded in my navel yesterday and Colin had to extract it.

It was dead but the question is...how did it get there?

The to do’s continue….

We just found out that our friend Elmer is going to sell his lot here at Holiday Park so the push is on for us to get the RV into storage.  After a very successful morning of sales calls Colin headed over to do the dumping and exterior cleaning of the RV.  We can do the rest of the  inside cleaning in the storage area.

Meanwhile I got to sit at my desk and start the year end.  I must be getting older because it took much longer to get into the groove.  I started at 8AM and by 6PM I was done for the day.  Still a day or two more to go.

At least the laundry is finished and 90% of our stuff is put away.  I do have to unpack boxes into my desk but may wait for the weekend.  We have discovered that we do have several things to do to get the house complete.  Things like stair railings, gutters, more rain chains, lots of yard work, getting cushions made and chairs recovered and the floor edges in the sun room completed and more and more and more.   That can wait until the taxes are complete.  I do start a series of medical appointments on Wednesday, always fun 🙁 .

Kelowna via Pendelton & Las Vegas to Mazatlan and the return via California, 5610 miles.

It was only 2558.4 miles south bound but 3051.4 miles north bound and I can hardly wait to do it again.
