Guess who nibbled on the cord to my desk light? Thank goodness Coin found this.  Someone got a shock.

One of these two for certain did the nasty deed. It must have happened when we left them alone a few weeks ago.

Because Saturday was so nice Colin pulled out the canoe from under the house.

I would call Saturday the perfect evening. The lake is so low, our beach has so much vegetation on it but we are not allowed to remove it. I don’t mind as it adds to the natural ambiance.

Another beautiful day today.

Colin brought the canoe down to the beach this afternoon in the hopes of getting out on the lake now that the smoke has diminished. We just lucked out with a few days of no smoke but it is still out there as we have two huge fires still burning out of control. A few hours later I kept hearing a whimpering sound. It was Carlie telling me that her sister had gone down to the beach ( first time ever ) and that she herself did not know how to do stairs. They are not allowed to go down there but of course Miss Adventure Ciela, checked it out. Now we have to cordon off the beach.

Sadly this fire started late yesterday  afternoon just above the Penticton airport. This is the view that some of our friends have. This fire is expanding quickly.

We are very aware of the devastation that Hurricane Ida has been heaping on Louisiana. However our hearts were with those on the Isla and Mazatlan that were dealing with Hurricane Nora, a category 1 that had the community on red alert and hit land this afternoon. Many communities further south were adversely affected by this hurricane, especially Puerto Vallarta. Too soon for damage reports from Mazatlan, however I do know that the Isla has no power.

I had gone outside to take this shot and ended up waking them all up. This was taken last Sunday.

The next morning was the first time I have seen birds on our umbrellas arm.

I think they are swallows.

Colin spent most of Tuesday waxing the golf cart. It looks great. Perfect cool weather to do it in and he could keep an eye on all the activity happening around us. See below.

We are finally getting to the point of completing our fencing.  The neighbours to the west are doing half of the fence.  We have all agreed on the same colours as what we already have. I am relieved as they had previously wanted white vinyl. Had they done that then we would have built our fence right next to their fence but in our colours and slightly taller so that we did not have to see the white.  We have our half of the fencing but they are still waiting. There is a shortage of coloured vinyl fencing in Canada, actually there is none. It is being sourced from the US. Tuesday was the day to dig and cement in the steel posts. The fence will sit right on the property line. We are on the left.

Late  afternoon Tuesday was love in time with Ciela, she loves to lay on her back in the crook of my arm.

So affectionate.  Can you see her tongue reaching to lick me?

Ouch!

It was a very long loving time. The girls need special time with us each  day – separately. Hard to find the extra time and write a blog as well as live our life. I have done this two days in a row now and they seem more responsive to commands. Here Ciela tucked herself under my chin and is giving me such a cuddle ( loved it ), looks like she is sucking her tongue.

Wednesday morning I dressed and then sat down with the girls. Great photo op and ever so colourful. The green fuzzy fleece blanket cost us $4.00 at a Dollar store.

Our fence guy was supposed to do the repair of our fence blow out Tuesday but never got around to it  because of the posts he was installing. He did it Wednesday. We ended up lowering the last panel by a foot to try to stabilize the fence re the occasional big winds off the lake.

Today I finally got to see Kelowna’s only dermartology doctor, it is at least a one year wait. She treated this precancerous spot. She used so much nitrogen that this now sits like a large lump, just over 1/4 inch above my chest. I was able to change my face treatments until February. I will have large scabs all over my face ( which is why I wear a hat outside to prevent the spots  ) and would rather that happen early in the New Year as it takes three to four months to heal.  So relieved that I did not get it done today.

We had some sunshine this morning but it was a cool at 61F. While Colin was walking the girls a storm blew in. At first some light showers with wind. My first thought was the wind affecting the fires but I have seen nothing in the news.  Hopefully it wasn’t too bad.

Then the heavy showers accompanied by gusts of 30 to 37.

The storm past and that is when I noticed that a portion of our fence was down. The fence has been stabilized for now but we will need the fence builder to do some repairs.

The girls are free now to do as they want. Of course that is running and jumping and wrestling. They will now have to be retrained to be left alone.

The twins are certainly living each day to the fullest. I just love how they are mirror images, well almost. Apparently this was a much needed sun bake moment. Anyone care to guess who is on top?

The past few days have been much cooler and the fire fighters are ever so grateful as it helps them do a more efficient job.  We certainly enjoyed  yesterday, very little  smoke or smoke smell. We could smell the freshness in the air. It was a wonderful boost for us all.

Today was our 8 week hair cut & colour day.  No colour for Colin, he looks great as he is. Love that smile.

The girls had a good run in our yard once they got home. Then they needed a very long drink. How did they get so long?

Dance in the Street Friday Night @ 7 pm. This happens every few weeks. It would be fun to join in but we were still unloading.

Usually they stop and dance on the street but not tonight. At least not on our street. No one was out.
