Tick Tock

The hours in each day are speeding by as we get closer to departure day.  We are still hoping to leave on Sunday morning but that means a lot more work to be done during each of those hours.  Sadly I have not been keeping up my end of things by putting things away in the RV.  There is stuff everywhere waiting to be loaded into the right areas.  I need a good 8 hours in there with no interruptions.  I like to have a good run at it so I can put things in logical places that I will remember.  Today just might be that day.

We are supposed to have sun and highs of 12C but instead we continue with a heavy fog and much dampness.  Today I can justify heating up the RV for a full day of sorting and storing.  I did go in for an hour yesterday but it was too cold to think properly. Colin did a big photo job yesterday and even stayed up half the night editing it.  Today he will deliver the CD to the client while meeting yet another client about another job.  Glad we are not trying to fly in and out of here this week.  Many flights have been delayed or cancelled. Now that the books are closed until April I will send an invoice with an April date.  It will be nice to have that cheque waiting for us when we get home.

The girls are just hanging out in the warmest place they can find.

We have been using the storage under our window seat to keep dog stuff. I have always been careful to not let the girls know this. Colin decided to pack up whatever we needed out of there the other night.

So at 10PM Carmeh is pulling toys left and right out of that bin. It was play time. She even managed to wake Caeli up. We used to over buy toys and now have new ones in reserve. Busted.

Found this shot in my camera, left over from last weeks moon. Halloween is coming soon.

Fog, Frazzled, Happy and Sad

We have been living in a sea of fog this week. That means that the sun doesn't come out and it's way cool as in cold.

The forecast is that this unusual fog is to lift by Saturday.  Good news for those flying in and out of the Kelowna Airport as many flights have been cancelled.  Bad news for the locals.  The fog is to be replaced by an Arctic Front.  Good thing we are leaving Sunday morning  🙂  Well I hope so.

If things can go wrong they are.  I did get the all clear today from my surgeon that I am good to go..so to speak.  Loads of work yet to do to make me fully functioning again.  We have experienced a few ‘issues’ but they will be dealt with.  Most importantly is that the monies have been collected.

On the happy side, we were interviewed today for a feature article in the Okanagan Home Magazine. They will be doing an article on us and our home in the Spring editon of the magazine.

Sad for us...but our friends here at Holiday Park Resort left last Saturday and may reach the Isla before us. They will be our very own next door neighbours at Tres Amigos RV Park.

Carmeh is very sad as I have no time for her at all. Well she is getting fed and a walk per day. Soon she will be spoilt with tons of attention as she sits on my lap as we drive.

So much to do and so little time……………….

Who knew that celery could be so rich?

I certainly didn’t and have to thank my brother for pointing this out to me.

Celery, that often neglected vegetable, because it has nothing but water in it, is very rich.  Rich in nutrients.

I was amazed to read this.

It contains Iron, Vitamins A & C and even Calcium.  If you click here and once you are on the site click again on See More   on the bottom right, you will get an even larger screen that shows you what else is in celery.  Things like Vitamin K, Potassium, Folate and much more.

What a fabulous online site.  http://caloriecount.about.com/  You can go there and type in any food you might want to know the nutritional value of.  I think you will be surprised at what you are eating, both pro and con.

Thanks to Andre, my only brother, who has turned his life around by changing how he eats.

Que Pasa ?

We are supposed to be leaving a week today.  I am seriously doubting that this might happen.  There is no way I am going to get the groceries put away in the RV today.  I still have much too much desk work to.  Colin gets back from Winnipeg late tonight and is out all day tomorrow starting at 7 AM which means we will be in meetings late tonight.

I finally organized the chaos into piles thinking it would help. It did not!

He has had a good visit with his Mom and naturally finds her much frailer than the last time he saw her.  To be turning 99 in eight days is a major accomplishment but her body is starting to slow down.  She never used a cane until this year and this morning Colin was able to get a walker for her and have her start to use it.  He also moved furniture around so she can move about her apartment freely.  She is a very proud lady who dresses to the nines and alway looks fabulous.  She still wears pantyhose every day, has her hair just perfect and wears jewellery.

I hate for him to have to be so busy when he gets back.  I did it a few weeks ago and it is tiring coming back from a trip to see family and then diving into work.  The week ahead holds a few medical appointments for me, jobs for Colin, the vet for the girls plus, plus, plus.  Hopefully we will have Thursday, Friday and Saturday to just transfer clothes and yet more food out of the house into the RV and get it all organized including the winterizing of our house.

The week ahead looks like wonderful weather wise, which is a huge bonus. I don't think we have ever gone so many weeks with no rain.

Some of you might suggest that we stay another few days and take our time packing up.  That will never work.  Colin would just keep doing more photography.  I am officially closing the books tomorrow which means no more invoicing until April.  I have to prepay all kinds of business taxes and issue post dated cheques right up to March 1st.  There is no room for error.

I think that part of the reason I am slower this year is because of my eyes.  The situation makes me extremely cranky.  We discovered, me and the eye Dr. lady that I also seem to be having dry eye issues which is irritating my eyes.  I think that I have had just too much on my plate these past few months.  The new lenses in my old frames were finally fitted to my nose and ears properly on Thursday and I can see better, not as perfect.  The Refresh Tears are helping with the soreness.  Now I am waiting for the new frames with the redone lenses to arrive tomorrow.  Hopefully I will see much better.  Of course we have run out of time to have these lenses redone but at least I will have a backup pair of glasses for the next six months.

My tiny Canon 16.0 mega pixel camera managed to catch the moon rise over the hill Friday night. Not bad eh!! No need mentioning that had Colin been home the photo would have been much more spectacular, but then he is the pro, not me.

The girls are tolerating me. I have managed to give them 2 block walks, much less then they get with their Papa. They really tried to get me to run but I'm not up to that yet. The cold mornings are not their favorites.

The before photo of the need to be repaired job. This is where the sun room add a room joins the main part of the house. There is no caulking and the double sided tape did not hold up in the heat of the summer.

We have this problem both on the lake side of the house and on the street side.  What to do but to call Black Mountain Sunrooms.  They were not the original sunroom company who are no longer in business but they are our go to company for excellent repairs.  They showed up with just 2 days notice and came on Saturday morning to look after our issues.

A quick and efficient repair and I know that they are good to come back if we have a problem.

Enough with the blog already, I have things to do!!

It is time for a few adventures

Colin left at 5 AM Friday morning to fly to Winnipeg to see his Mom.  She is turning 99 on October 28th, just 9 days from now.  She lives in a seniors home but not only does she shop for, she cooks her own meals. She is the oldest person in the building but refuses to eat with the general population as she finds them too old for her.  We love her so much and we call her by our hip name for her, Mommio!  Colin has all kinds of fun and different activities planned for his time with his Mom.

Meanwhile I hopped into my BMW roadster yesterday for my final grocery shopping trip and banking trip before we leave.  I am so tired of all this shopping stuff…..actually it will be way worse when I have to all the stuff away in the RV.  So I get into Kelowna and do my thing and on the way back the red light for low gas comes on!  What the heck?  In my entire life I have never, ever, ever put fuel into a vehicle that I own.  That has always been my hubby’s job.  Guess who used the Z3 last?  Guess who left it with the tank near empty?  Not me!!!!!!!!!!!!  So Friday morning  Colin drove his car to the airport to leave it in the long term parking.  Hey there was no way I was getting up at 4:30AM to drive him to the airport.  My flights to Edmonton were at normal people hours.  So I am stuck with bulk shopping in a small car. That I managed until the fuel light came on.  What to do?

I finally drove into a gas station where I found that the only other vehicle there was being fuelled by a female.  I was saved or so I thought.  Not.  I kindly asked her if she could help me due to extenuating circumstances.  Yes she would help.  My definition of help was that she would put the gas into my car.  Instead she chose to teach me, step by step, how to fuel my car.  So my car finally got the fuel and I now can do the job.  But will I will?  No! Sorry that is my hubby’s job in my books.

Also in my defence I have to add that while we lived in Vancouver area we frequented full serve gas stations as we felt that we were helping the economy by keeping those gas attendants employed.  So I never ever did it by myself.

So while Colin was having a fab time in Winnipeg with his Mom, I was shopping, then dropping it all off to the RV, then off the bank where I picked up all my money for Mexico and of course filling my car with gas, the expensive non leaded kind.  Good thing that the car doesn’t get used too much.  I was very tired last night.

Meanwhile the night prior to Colin leaving Kelowna we were invited over by our neighbours, the ones with the spiders. Seems that they wanted full disclosure !!

Okay so we did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile their new rescue pup, Daisy decided she loves me. If they don't watch out, I might just take her to Mexico with us. Is she not just the very sweetest face you ever saw?

This tree has changed so much these past few days. The minus C temps have played with Mother Nature.

Those leaves were gold just a few days ago and now the reds are taking over.

Sunset Friday evening was spectacular for this time of year.

Now that the geese have left, only the ducks are left on Duck Lake.
