Another cruise ship and another party!

7 AM Wednesday morning brought yet another Holland America ship to the waters of Mazatlan.

Colin and I have cruised on the Statendam so this made the ship's visit extra special for us. This was an unexpected stop for this ship, a bonus to the schedule.

Shortly after our beach walk a large of amount of horses came past. The girls haven't seen them yet.

Now Caeli has noticed them and that means constant barking. The horses came quite close to our site, it was great to see. I knew that the Statendam was coming so I threw a Bon Voyage happy hour for RV1.

Some unexpected entertainment. The tractor was pulling a wagon that was towing the white truck that was towing yet another wagon. Too funny!

Meanwhile David Perez, the owner and manager of Tres Amigos RV Park dropped in for a moment. Colin photoshopped himself in the photo earlier today.

There she is, leaving port.

It was a bit overcast and not a great sunset.

Colin and I have cruised quite a bit but we much prefer our RV lifestyle.

Off into the sunset, next stop Puerto Vallarta.

Our happy hour continued on.

We have a good group of RVers here. Plans are in the works for a Christmas dinner and a few more activities.

So ended another long and fun day.

Just another day in paradise

There was a comment the other day about Colin taking the photos and numbering them.  Actually I do take the majority of the photos on the blog unless I am in them or unless I give Colin credit for them.  The blog started out many many years ago as a travel email that I would send out as we travelled.  Fifteen years ago internet was very iffy and by the time I attached all the photos the internet would drop off and I would have to start all over again.  Frustrating.  Then the idea for the blog came along and then I found that I never had enough photos for the blog so Colin told me to take my own and bought me a point and shoot camera. This is my first blog post back in 2010.

Happy to say that I do have Colin to do the fancy stuff like this shot.

Relaxing Monday

The day started with massages for both of us!  Then we met friends down the beach for dinner.

We are feeling the chill from that huge Arctic front. I actually put a jacket on.

A new record was made....I had three of those !

When did it get so dark out? Felix had to join in the party with some cerveza.

We finally realized that we should go home so that he could shut down his restaurant and go home to his family.  Between us, Colin and I forgot to turn on our outdoor lights nor bring a flashlight so we wandered home down the beach in the dark.  We  did get home safe and sound.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at our house.

Oops....nap time! Yes that is Carmeh beside me.

A face to fall in love with!!

I have to admit that other than a decent beach walk I laid low on Saturday.  My body was dictating rest, rest and yet more rest.  But that smile stayed on my face, I will never forget Friday night.

Not sure what night this was?

I think it was Thursday but I don't know that for certain but none the less still beautiful.

Look what we found on the beach!

Her name is Lacey and she is three months old. I asked the age several times because she is to tiny, smaller than our girls at 8 weeks. She only has 3 toes on each of her back feet. She couldn't stop shaking. Isn't she sweet, a face to love. I have never seen a chocolate doxie in Mexico before.

She belongs to this little girl. They are both adorable.

Dad is holding their much larger doxie, not related in any way to the puppy.

Amazing how the colors change from night to night. This was Saturday.

Sunday's offering was on a simpler scale.

After sunset Sunday most of the RVers gathered to watch a slide show about South Africa. One of the couples had just returned from a three week trip there before driving here. Later there was a movie but we left. Time for a late dinner and some relaxation at our place.

Looking forward to the week ahead.  Can you tell I’m doing better?

EXTRAORDINARY EVENING

Two hundred and fifty Canadians RSVP’ed to an invitation by the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa.

Sunset from the panga as we headed into Mazatlan.

There are many more Canadians in Mazatlan but there was only room for 250 of us.

It was a formal sit down dinner with lots of wine on the terrace of the Tourism building overlooking the Malacon.

Wendy Hardouin the Canadian Counsular Agent coordinated the evening. In this photo Rita Rudaitis-Renaud, the Consul General for the Canadian Embassy located in Mexico City is presenting Dr. Frank Cordova Celaya, the Secretary of Tourism a gift basket with all kinds of Canadian goodies. This was the Canadian Consul General's first trip to Mazatlan.

During the evening several Canadians were recognized for their volunteer works within Mazatlan. Here Carol Kirkwood is being recognized for her work with the Animal Shelter. She was a former RVer on the Isla but now her and her husband make their home in Mazatlan.

Canadian musician Brenster and Carrum provided the entertainment. They perform weekly in Mazatlan.

I finally got to meet Maureen Dietrich, the publisher of The Mazatlan Messenger.

As we were leaving we heard my name called. It was great to finally meet Sandy and Bob. They stayed on the Isla for a week in their RV before moving into a condo rental for the rest of the winter. We hope to see them and their two French bulldogs here at Tres Amigos next winter.

From there we moved over to the Plazuela Machado were things were swinging. This is my fabulous massage lady, Maria, who is also a hooper. She sat with us at the tourism due but left before us.

Soon I was swinging 😀 There was a great band playing in the gazebo and a variety of bands in various corners of the Machado.

The Plazuela was full of people soaking up the music.

Everyone was bouncing to the beat.

Me most of all or so it seems from all the photos.

The lovely dinner served at the tourism function contained meat ( which we don't eat ) so we went to the Plazuela for a late dinner and soon we were joined by other Isla folks who also decided to check out the action.

I have to say that it was one of the best evenings I have had in years and years.

As we headed out to find a pulmonia we just had to stop on the corner for yet another dance with yet another band.

It truly was a magical evening.  Hard to believe we have been here a full month.
