Our Home is in a Magazine!!!

The Spring 2014 edition of the Okanagan Home Magazine has done a small feature article on our home.  For those in B.C. the magazine if offered free in many locations.  Just watch for it in those magazine stands at the entrances to stores and banks, etc.  It is also offered online by clicking the highlighted link.  It will take a few minutes to load.  I haven’t been able to find a way to show you the actual article from the magazine.  If you want to read it online, the article starts on pages 56 & 57.

This is what those pages look like. Unfortunately to read the article you have to either get a copy of the magazine or read it online.

Hey I figured it out, a bit primitive but here is the first column on page 56!

...and the words in the second column of page 56. I took photos of the online blown up words.

The first column at top of page 57.

..and the second column at the top of page 57.

Pages 58 & 59 look like this. Of course the photos will show in more detail online where you can enlarge everything.

The words that describe the photos at eh bottom left of page 58.

The words on the right of page 58.

There is a small photo on the top left corner of page 60.

The top left corner of page 60.

I hope this isn’t too confusing and that you get the drift.  Dad, I promise to mail you a copy of the magazine once we get home.  Anyone else who wants a copy, just send me an email.

RV Accident & Adios!

On March 1 st I made a link on my post to Jacqui & Cameron’s blog.  They are a young couple taking a year off to drive their RV down to South America.  A few days ago they left the Isla to continue their dream journey.

Mere hours after leaving here they decided to take in a view point in Tepic. A mistake.

Most unfortunately they were involved in an accident.  Happily they were not injured but their RV was.  You can read their story here as well as the next chapter.

They were able to limp back to the Isla were its magical powers are helping to heal them and their rig. The dream will continue.

Meanwhile there was a gathering at RV1 to say adios to two couples, one who left today and another leaving tomorrow.

Later, four of us meandered down the beach for a farewell dinner.

Really Bob, that hat does look good on you! Buy it!

Actually it looks better on Marjorie.

The end of another great season. See you in November!

They left at 6:45 this morning with plans for a few more adventures in Mexico before heading North. Safe travels!

Meanwhile on our beach walk this morning we encountered a seal on the beach, not too far from RV2.

It doesn't look like he had been beached for too long. I hope that he had had a good life. R.I.P.

Somehow I seem to have been turned onto several other blogs all dealing with travels to South America.  If you like please check them out.

Que Pasa !

~ the road into the Isla has recently been graded so those of you wanting to make a stop on your way North will find it a quick and easy drive.

~ on Wednesday, we had the first of 7 cruise ships coming into port this month.

It left early so no sunset background.

It sure was pretty later.

~ the exodus North has begun, we have 3 RV’s from RV 2 leaving this week.  See you all in November.  It is sad to say adios to our Isla friends but then we all get to see our friends back home.  Interesting having 2 sets of friends, one set for each half the year in a different location.  It takes a bit to get the heart and head wrapped around that concept.

~ Colin is enjoying his week in Culiacan.

Cavatina Duo, Denis Azabagic ( guitar ) & Eugenia Moliner ( flute )

~you can listen to their amazing music here.  It takes a minute to load, and if you click on about you can listen as you read their story.

After their performance he gets to know them better over a late dinner. He does this with each artist every evening of the festival.

~his Spanish lessons are paying off as he is able to understand the Master Classes.

~the girls and I are keeping busy with beach walks in the morning and afternoon walks in the botanical gardens.

The gardens are becoming lovelier each year and they are not officially open.

After Caeli barked at the horses this morning.....

...Carmeh dug up a wee crab. We were almost home and they were a bit behind me when I heard the barking and turned and saw the digging going on.

It was just a wee thing with blue claws so possibly a baby. I think Caeli got bit in the mouth or on her tongue as she kept shaking her head and she was easily persuaded to leave it live. She is just fine now.

~ it is getting hotter each day and we still have a month to go.  Hard to believe that we have been here four months today and leave in exactly one month on April 7th.  We plan to enjoy each of our remaining days to the fullest.

Their has been much more wave action these past days, also many more dolphin sightings.

~life on the Isla continues to be wonderful.

A New Experience

Tonight was an experience I must share with all of you.  I photograph the Guitar Festival in Culiacan and assist in other ways.  Well, tonight  my assistance was needed in another way,  The conductor fell ill and I was close by.  We are good friends.  He asked  “Colin, can you help and conduct the orchestra for the 2nd half of the program”.  I said  ” I don’t know how”.  He said, ” You are a great guitarist and know music well,  just wave your hands to the orchestra,  they  will know what to do.  You will be able to handle it.  I will introduce you as a guest conductor from Canada”    and so he did and……..  so I did.

Fantastico !
