Adios Amigos

While Chris and Juan enjoyed the sun and the hot tub Colin and I worked Tuesday morning.  Just as the clouds started to appear over the horizon it was time to go out and play.  The guys didn’t want to do too much siteseeing but we wanted show them the Mission Hill Winery.  So off we went and soon the rain started to fall.  By the time we got to West Kelowna the worst of the storm was over.

I mentioned these sculptures a few weeks ago.

In my May 9th post I mentioned that Colin had been hired to take photos of the placement of these sculptures in the gardens of the winery.  The artist is Steinunn Thorarinsdottir from Iceland.  In that May post I explain more about the sculptures and show more examples of her work as well as a link to her website.

We did have fun checking things out.

Man imitating nature.

We toured around the wine boutique and a part of the museum. We chose not to do a complete tour as we really didn't want to give up one of our precious final hours.

The weather wasn't great but nice enough. Once we left the winery Colin took us on a tour of the area and we enjoyed looking at some rather expensive homes ( the ones in the background along the lake).

Mission Hill winery is known for it's beautiful rose garden as well as it's world class wines.

We got back home and it didn’t look like it had rained a drop.  Sadly it was time for the fellows to do the final packing and dumping and filling, etc.  I got started on dinner.  Once they arrived we enjoyed some snacks that Juan had put together and did what the four of us do best.  We chatted, we exchanged stories, we discussed things happening in the world and eventually we ran out of time.  Just after they arrived for dinner, the sky got dark and we were treated to a show by Mother Nature.  It thundered and the sky was lit up with lightening yet other parts were clear.  It was raining too hard for me to go out and take a photo and you could barely see out of the window.  You could see the raindrops bouncing off the water as they were lit by the sun from another direction.

An example of the sky taken from a local online news source.

Juan was fascinated by how the rain chain handled the deluge.

The storm didn't last too long.

A final gift of a double rainbow. It is difficult to see but you can just make out the raindrops bouncing off the lake.

Sorry no photos of our dinner nor the rest of the evening.  We were just too busy enjoying each other.

This morning Chris and Juan came to exchange final hugs and get a nose lick from Caeli.

Adios Amigos! Happy trails!

You can follow the rest of their 4 month North America adventure on their blog.

Copper River Salmon

We got lucky and were able to find some Copper River Salmon a few days ago.  What better meal could we possibly feed our guests.  The fellows spent their day walking around the resort, doing some chores and taking in some sun and a hot tub or two.  You know they like it here when they want to discuss how much it costs to buy such and such a lot within the park.

First though it was time to check for emails and other stuff.

Today Chris was back to his normal healthy self and he was hungry. He even resorted to stealing mushrooms out of the frying pan. Just hurry up and get the meal on the table, por favor.

Of course Juan wanted to be in on the photo session.

Finally the salmon is on the grill.

Yes Peter, we are making sure the guys get some of that Okanagan wine into their systems.

Salud!

It was the best salmon I have ever had in my life. Colin did a fantastic job.

Another evening of non stop conversation. I don't think that we will ever run out of things to discuss.

Juan had his special time bonding with Carmeh and she with him.

Fun and food!

It seems that we are doing more eating and chatting than anything else.  Chris was still a tad under the weather yesterday so we didn’t do too much.  We did go for a tour of the park in the golf cart.

Just behind the rec centre, across from what we call bird island, we found a painted turtle sunning itself.

What was Juan taking a photo of?

Yet another turtle and he was under water. Is my camera good or what?

Suddenly a huge catfish swam by. Huge, now I know what makes those large splashes in the lake. The white fluff on the water comes from the cottonwood trees in the area. Sometimes it looks like it is snowing.

Later in the afternoon Juan played bartender.

It was great to have Chris join us for dinner. He didn't eat much but at least he tasted everything.

Much later in the evening Juan asked for a vodka. We knew at that very moment that he was on the mend 🙂

Another wonderful but late, late evening.

For those on my blog who don’t know Chris and Juan, they live in Monterry, Mexico and have RVed  there since 2004.  Of course they also travel to the US but prefer to boondock in Mexico. Chris writes a fabulous blog called Living & Boondocking in Mexico.

A fun first evening

We were having such a good time that I forgot to take photos.  Good thing Colin took a few.

After setting up the fellows came over, toured the house and yard and then we sat to chat  Sadly, halfway through happy hour, Chris went back to their RV.  He just wasn’t feeling right and needed to rest.

That didn't stop the rest of us from getting to know each other better 🙂

Juan was having a good time.

Because it was so warm we enjoyed dinner outside, only our second meal outside this season. It wasn't cool but it's always nice to sit in front of a fire while enjoying the lake.

So much to talk about and to share. The hours passed swiftly. That's Carmeh sleeping on the chair beside me.

Hasta manana.

They are here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just before 3 PM the boys pulled in, we actually saw them on the highway before they turned into the park.

Direct from Mexico, via a few other friends homes, their first time RVing in Canada.

Bienvenido Juan!

Hola Chris, mi casa es su casa!

Check in. They have their own RV site just a few sites away from us.

We led them in the golf cart or choche as we call it. That is our home on the right behind the hedges.

Relaxing on the beach and catching up on the urgent stuff.

So relaxed, but time to head off for a siesta.

Stayed tuned to see if we have a wild night or a quiet night  😆
