First off, thanks for all the comments re the last post about gas pump prices. Especially you new commenters. Loved all of your thoughts. I actually read on a friend’s Facebook page today ( no I do not do Facebook unless it is public, don’t do friend requests ) that where he lives in Ontario there is a gas war. Prices in St Catharines were 96 cents per litre 3 days ago and yesterday they were down to 87 cents per liter. We are at 1.32 per litre. Location, location, location. No rhyme nor reason 😡
I would have loved to respond to each of you and banter back and forth but alas I have been occupied running a marathon. Well it certainly felt like it 😯 The last four days I have been involved in a royal battle re my Fathers’ will. It has passed probate but now the lawyer involved has other issues. Back and forth. Each time I emailed or telephoned I was reminded how much this was costing 👿 I have finally taken over, well I hope so, I will know on Monday. Meanwhile I have exhausted myself emotionally. There are a few issues behind the scenes and some of those disbursements are required urgently due to health reasons. I am worn out. I want to get up to speed on all your private emails and blogs. Give me a few days.
Colin and I had a meeting this morning. It was raining so he was home. Lucky me. We have decided to delay our departure to Mexico by two weeks 😥 I don’t have the energy to prepare and he has several jobs in the wings awaiting perfect conditions. We will only be leaving here October 31st with an anticipated arrival on our site on the Isla of November 15th. Plus it looks like we will be getting almost half of the RV reno’s done between September 5th and October 16th, well worth the delay 😀 Plus we get a few extra days of R & R in the USA . Not going to discuss the USD/CAD exchange rate 😥 The remaining reno’s will take place in the summer of 2016. While in Mexico we will contemplate the changes we want in the living room. Those of you visiting us on the Isla are welcome to share your input 😕
Today, late morning I headed out to get my hair done. Followed by some grocery shopping and then unloading and putting away. The cool weather 😛 prompted me to make my lentil soup which we love. Looking forward to a laid back evening.
Yesterday I found Caeli going back & forth between the bed and the dog fence. She somehow got in behind and was trapped.
This morning she made me chuckle. Nice to laugh, it has been a very long and exhausting week. Wish I wasn’t so diligent. Anyway, due to the rain we brought in the outside red bed and somehow it ended up on top of the inside bed.
Gas pumps that is! While fuel prices are down mostly everywhere we have been going up and up the last few days. We were holding steady at 124.9 for a few weeks and then it was 136.9 and finally down to 135.9 today. Big deal!
Why are we paying more than almost every area of Canada? Can anyone explain it to me? Shouldn’t the prices be going down?
Actually in over my head. Have been getting conflicting info ( as in not correct information and advice ) from law clerks, assistants and the lawyer who wrote Dad’s will. Something came to light today that is not what Dad had meant to have in his will. It was not explained at the time he signed it ( I was there when he did ) and now we have to go to the courts once more to make a change. Probate was denied twice before it was finally approved and now this.
I was willing to fire the current lawyer a few hours ago and deal with it all on my own but Colin said no, it would only be worse.
So hence no blog posts till I stop pulling my hair out.
For the first time in over 2 weeks we had a sunny blue sky day with no smoke. Of course that meant that Colin was on the road at 6:00AM for the first shoot of the day.
Just as I was preparing the girls breakfast I glanced out the window and ran for my camera.
Three kayaks and a canoe out for an early morning paddle on our very calm lake. Interesting that they were all wearing life jackets. For a moment I was sad. I have never been in our canoe ( we only got it a year ago ). Colin and the girls did go out last summer but I was away in Edmonton with my Dad for about 3 months. We only used our kayaks once last summer and not once this year (yet ). You see, when the conditions are perfect on our lake, they are also perfect for Colin to go do all the jobs that have been piling up. He is known for producing those perfect photographic masterpieces and so of course when the conditions are right he has to go. I do know that one day we will have the time to paddle to our hearts content. It’s just that sometimes I wish it was our turn today.
I dream that one day we will wake up and look at each other and say ‘let’s go for a paddle’ as we have nothing else on the agenda and it is a perfect day. I do know in my heart that our day will come.
Meanwhile I am happy to be able to simply observe. We are so fortunate to live where we do. How can I complain as we live a perfect life both here and in Mexico on the Isla.
We see this couple canoeing almost weekly and each time she wears these feathers in her hat. So intriguing, perhaps gathered from the eagles that fly overhead.
I am thankful that we still have our perfect home. Sadly 31 homes have been lost in the last 48 hours due to the fires just south of us. Thanks to the heroic efforts of the firefighters it was such a low number. No news yet on the RV Park but a possibility that all was not lost. The fires are not contained but there have been serious efforts made and the weather is cooperating. I just now read that one of our ski resorts, Big White has a wildfire burning near it. Will it ever stop? I am thankful that we have been spared.
Colin has just arrived home as I write this. Part of his day was to take photos for one of the largest housing developments here in Kelowna. This included some dangerous footwork.
The ropes have been placed by hikers. Impossible to go up and down without the rope. The arrow shows where the trail goes straight up and it is not an easy climb. The attraction are falls at the bottom of valley, creeks come down from the mountains that converge into falls.
He could not believe this woman doing the climb with a child under her arm.
I am thankful that that is Colin’s job and not mine 😆 I am also thankful that Carmeh managed her second walk today with no issues other than lots and lots of time 😎 I have nothing but time for her right now. The lake paddle can wait.
We took Carmeh for her first regular walk without the stroller this morning. It took a long time as she was slow but she did the entire route. Colin and I aren’t certain if she will be able to do the beach. Sharon, one of my readers, just happened to send me the following 1.30 minute video yesterday. It gives us hope that Carmeh will be able to roam the beach this winter and still chase crabs. Great timing Sharon and thanks so much.
