Seems like we are always doing something

Sounds like me on some days.

A week ago today we went to visit our friend Tana. She is my hairdresser and now Colin’s. She also loves the girls And at this point she is in our will to get them should/when something happens to us.

We actually had someone last week ask to put them in our will to take the girls.

Ciela is now staring to jump on the back of the sofa and wants to walk on the top of their crate. After three strong verbal reprimands she seems to have stopped, at least for now.

Lettuce, radishes, basil and cilantro from our garden. tomatoes were from Costco. Hopefully in a few weeks we will have some from the garden.

How wet has it been?

Well so wet that our lawn has different types of mushrooms sprinkled throughout. The girls have eaten some of these and we have no idea if they are good or bad. Way too many for us to pull them out. Are they safe? I have no idea.

The gate has given us problems for over a year now and this time the handle fell right off. We found out from the manufacturer that unless the fence and all else was installed by them there is no warranty. The company is a 90 minute drive from here!!! Of course we used a local contractor who sourced his materials from them.

Got my new clothes dryer for the Isla. This one is stainless steel and will not / should not rust like the other did. By using this here I plan to save some money by not using our propane dyer.

Ferne drove from Vancouver to attend RV school last week. We did have a lovely dinner together at the Greek House Restaurant and Wednesday afternoon she dropped in to visit the girls. The dinner last week was a huge thing for us, our first restaurant visit since March 2020. We did have that one, one hour, luncheon on the Isla outdoors, on the Isla in ? March but it was certainly not a busy indoor restaurant.

So much rain that my petunias are drowning. I deadheaded them yesterday and with a few days of ( fingers crossed ) heat in the forecast they should perk up soon.

The girls keep searching for the snake. I am glad that they have something active to do.

Cute graphic but I have to say that our two do not fart, they listen 50%, and they are 2000% in the kissing department.

Que pasa

My surprise birthday orchid.

So beautiful. I hope that they last for a very long time. Different colours because of the light.

Left over photo from the garage sale. This pup can’t get out but figured out a way to watch the world pass by. It does look like it would rather be going for a walk.

We have the girls on a pumpkin type supplement to help fully express their anal glands. Much cheaper than a monthly vet visit. They each split one chew per day. It was time to order the next batch. I decided to check the pricing from the company in the US versus ordering off Amazon.ca ( .com is for the US ). By ordering direct from the US manufacturer, I got the next four months of chews for $43.20 USD/$56.00 CAD less, including free shipping from the US. Checking around does pay off.

No more as the lake keeps rising. If it is windy we can see a tiny bit of the log between the waves.

So much under water. It is now up to our third step.

A few days ago I looked at our TV line up and what we were paying for it. I dropped two packages that we never watch. The only thing we did watch was CNN and I can watch that on the computer. So now our monthly cost is $33.00 plus applicable taxes, a savings of $215.04 annually. Not a lot but it all adds up. A few years back we were paying $110.0 per month. Why? We never watched 80% of the packages we were paying for.

So between the savings of the anal gland chews for a year, $168.00 plus the $215.04 saved on TV programming for a year, we are ahead $383.04. If you multiply that by five years we will have saved $1915.20.

These savings will help pay for our next micro irrigation repair bill. The hard water in our park tends to clog the lines.

The girls insist on supervising whether from close up or from afar. Then once again we had so much rain that we had to shut the irrigation off.

For the most part this is our view. Dark rain clouds. We are hopeful that the worst is almost past. We had a warm enough day today but still had showers a few hours ago. And the heavy dark clouds are building again.

Taken yesterday, June 19th. Yes we are still running the fireplace for warmth. The girls moved too fast for me to capture them, they were off on another wrestle bout.

Then there are those who are traveling by air within the US. These were texted to me in the last three weeks. I don’t think we are ready to start traveling by air just yet. US pricing.

June Calendar Photo

This photo was taken June 22nd, 2021, almost a full year ago. The girls turned six months on July 4th. Click here to read about the walk in the photo. We had travelled to the area so that Colin could do some aerial photography for the City of Vancouver. It was the first time in all the years that he has had this annual contract ( at least 25 years ) that it was perfect blue sky.

The girls first trip in the RV was on June 8th. This was their second trip and they did very well. Later in July we went to Jasper, Edmonton and Banff. By the end of that trip they were seasoned RV travellers.

The reason for this particular trip was the aerial photography but also to see so many of our friends. Of course we were also introducing the twins to many of them. Gramma Katie and Louie were the priority. We returned home on June 25th and just a few days later we were in that heat dome, where so many died. This link will expand on the heat dome. So very very different than this June when we are wet, wet, wet and even wetter. Flowers are not growing and vegetable gardens are stunted. We have replanted our beans for the third time, neither the spinach nor the Swiss chard are growing and I have resown those seeds as well as the beets today. The carrots planted May 7th are only an inch above the soil. We are living in different times these days. Yes I am happy that there are no forest fires but the rest of the situation is unsettling.

Strawberry Moon

The Full Moon on June 14, 2022 was near its closest approach to Earth, making it a Supermoon. Fortunately that was the only clear night that we have seen in many nights. We had just finished watching something on TV. While sitting there I had observed the moon slowly rise over the hill. It was spectacular. So fortunate that we saw this.
