Lest we forget

One of the first poems I learned in grade school.
The following was taken by a fellow blogger. Her blog can be found here. This is the Kelowna City Park Cenotaph at sunrise, just a few days ago.

Touching.

November 11th will never be forgotten.

Some very heartfelt words on a day that deserves special recognition, thanks for posting Contessa 🙂
You are most welcome, your son gave for his country and we are proud.
Oh, this is nice. I’ve been noticing on my pre-bedtime tour of photoblogs that the Canadians, Australians, Brits all mention this day. It’s called Veteran’s Day in the US. Haven’t seen a peep about it so far from the USA contingent. Doesn’t surprise me, as I think we can’t pay attention very long…sad. Of course, we may be all shell-shocked from current events.
Yes I have noticed also, I guess Americans honour differently than others. Here in Canada it is an official holiday and everyone is off work and many stores close in honour of those who served.
Many of us quietly remember Veterans Day. I honored my son who retired October of 2018 after twenty seven years of active Army and Army Reserves. He is proud of his military service and I am proud of him.
Thank you for posting the poem In Flanders Field, Contessa, it has been a while since I have read it word for word. I shared it.
Oh dear, I sent too soon, Sam’s retirement date was October 2019.
Tweny seven years is av very long time. He deserves to be honoured. It is a lovely poem.
Very fitting Remembrance Day post.
“Lest we forget”
It’s about time.
Thank you Rick.
