Activity for the C’s at home and away

I was up at 4AM and drove Colin to the airport at 4:30AM.  Just as I was going to snap a photo of his two carry on bags ( cameras ) and three other huge and overweight bags of photography equipment, my camera battery died.  Thank goodness the client is paying the flight, the extra baggage charges, close to $270.00, a rental car and putting him up for a few nights in a 2 million dollar home.  Oh yes, we also get to invoice her for the photography.  Colin has described the home to me as a wowser and it will be in Architectural Digest.  Now a second home has been added which has a $200,000.00 Monet styled garden and pond in the backyard.  Now that excites me. Can hardly wait to see the photos.

As I drove back home the sun was rising above our home with the lake in the foreground.  What a time to have a dead camera 😳

We have had a loud bird literally bopping around the grass and patio for a few days now.  He really bobs as he walks and doesn’t seem to fly a lot.  His cry is loud to the point of Caeli barking when she hears him.  He is not shy and does not fly away when the girls are out there.  I finally managed to get a photo of him through the window this morning.

It is a

It is a Spotted Sandpiper which I have never heard before nor seen.  He is sitting on our stone carved pelican, his 2nd favorite spot.  He seems to prefer the turtle which is closer to the ground.

I happened to look out the window early this afternoon while on a computer break and spotted two very tiny Sandpipers walking across our patio.  I suspect that the nest is close by as they tend to build them low to the ground.  How special to see yet another side to Mother Nature.

Computer break you might ask?  I saw the chiropractor yet again today and I have strict orders.  No bending or lifting.  Well how on earth will the girls get watered or fed while Colin is away and who will pick up after them on the walks?  I must get back to icing and heat alternating every 10 minutes.  But then who will coordinate Colin’s jobs, flight, print maps & directions and reschedule picking up the new car in Calgary?  I was shocked at how busy the dealership was and unable to accommodate our change in plan.  They really are just that busy.  The delay in picking up the car involved a multitude of other changes from getting the out of province inspection done ( $$$ ) and picking up special permits ( $ ) which can only be done when Colin actually drives into BC from Alberta.  One small change creates a domino effect of changes.

Caught this quail sitting on a deranged owls head over at our neighbors. Yeat anouthe dshot throught the iwndow.

There is not a day that goes by without a bird or two flying into one of our many windows.  Most survive.

Sad,y this beautiguk ibe did nt.

Sadly this beautiful one did not.  It fell at the bottom of our back stairs just a foot from the window.

A beautifulo male

A beautiful male yellow warbler.  Again I have never seen this bird here before.  So sad that I missed seeing in it all its glory.

Amazing that the dog is content to sit and enjoy the ride. No way could I train our girls to do that. Mind you, no way could I even mahage the paddling.

I want to live a long and wonderful life so if this is what it takes, why not?
