The countdown is on

So glad we started packing a few days ago. Today it is 95F/35C and even we are warm.  Between the packing we have managed to get out and enjoy the beach each day.  We only have three more sleeps till departure day aka D day.

This rig belongs to a couple from Colorado who have just started a 3 month tour of Mexico. Quite the outfitted rig.

It is always sad to leave such beauty but then we do love our home also.

The waves are getting larger and more frequent.

The locals are certainly enjoying it all.

But there are several surfers out there as well.

I read about it on Rae's blog and heard about it today from someone but the earth's rotation coupled with the ocean currents align to create these waves. We have never been here to see this before. I am certain is has to do with the warmer than normal weather.

I read about it on Rae’s blog and heard about it today from someone that the earth’s rotation coupled with the ocean currents align to create these waves.  In our six years here we have never been here to see this.  I am certain that it is happening sooner because of  the warmer than normal weather.

I say it almost everyday "we are so luckly to be here".

We are on day four of high surf.

New recipe, veggie ground round enchilada casserole. A definite keeper.

Wow, can’t believe your stay is basically over! 🙁 🙁 🙁 I’m glad we got to spend together the time we did.

Can you please send me that enchilada recipe? (I much prefer veggie ground round over any type of ground meat, believe it or not!)

I’m glad you met someone else who confirmed that story about the high waves and whatnot.

You have no idea how happy I was to have you here on the Isla and not just for computer purposes. I still have three sleeps and 2 more long beach walks….:(

Please include me on the “send the recipe to” list. It looks delicious! Or maybe just post the recipe.

Yes, it is soon time to head home. Homework awaits!

      • contessa says:

Croft, you shall get the recipe, sooner that later. I am ready to head North and resigned to work as I must but all the while knowing I shall be returning to paradise. Why don’t you join us next winter?

Enjoy your last few days. The countdown is on for us as well. Heading back on the 7th. Also in the 90s here as well. Makes it just a little easier to leave when it gets so hot. I would also love that recipe. Sounds like you should post it????

    • contessa says:

At least you are leaving those high temps. We will be in Arizona and dealing with them until April 10th and I know it is going to be hot and we will be doing some dry camping. I don’t think I will post the recipe but I will send it to you as well as my modifications. Not sure when though, time is short right now.

  3. Wow, time sure flies by! Hard to believe that you are headed back north already!

I can’t believe it either but you do have to remember that we were only here 3.5 months instead of our usual 5. Five seemed too long last year but 3.5 was too short this year. Who knows what we will do next year. We are itching to do some other exploring here in Mexico. At least when we get North it will be rain and not the snow you are in and heading into.

The last few days before we left Mazatlan the waves were huge, bigger than we’ve seen in six years and not suitable for swimming. Boohoo we had to sit and look at them and weren’t able to get in the water. We are at the Playa de Cortes in Guaymas, got in the this afternoon. I’ll post about our “adventures” and road conditions tomorrow.

    • contessa says:

Good to hear you are there safe and sound. I am very eager to hear you story re ‘the roads’. The waves continue……

It was good winter all things considered. Enjoy the last few days and remember you’ll be back. Same time next year.

It was a good winter my friend although short. “Same Time, Next Year”…..my most favorite play by Bernard Slade. I saw it in NYC more than once.

    • contessa says:

Thank you. It has been a different year and I wish I had had the time to post more. I have tons of photos I have not yet shared.

  7. Connie in PA says:

Great photos – the one of the doggies following you is so cute! It’s always hard to leave a place you love, isn’t it? Enoy the last couple of days and safe travels as you head north. Take care!

    • contessa says:

Thanks Connie. The girls always following going up the beach but on the way home they are in the lead and running up from the beach and back down again covering twice the ground we do. Trying to enjoy the last few days but lots of packing up to do.

  8. Soon time to hit the roads to a new adventure, travel safe and enjoy.

    • contessa says:

You are right George, always a new adventure down the road. The roads are supposed to be bad so I hope it is enjoyable.
