Que pasa

Thank you all so very much for your emails and comments about Mommio.

This is a photo of her actual birthday certificate.  Note the piece of paper it was written on.  That is what they did back in those days.  The blue ink at the bottom was added by Mommio at some point.

She also wrote poems.

Thank you all for helping both of us get through this difficult time.  Your thoughts have been a true inspiration.

I don’t have time to go into all the details but we needed a window replaced and it actually came in on Friday and was installed on Monday.  The tall window above this also  needs to be replaced but never showed up. Something to look forward to in April.

We didn’t have far to go to vote on Monday, as our polling station was here in our park recreation centre.  Most convenient. We spent most of the day doing important final details such as getting the RV insured for the next nine months. We can only have it out front of our place for three nights we we brought it out on Tuesday and commenced loading.

This has also been a big help to us. Somehow I ended up with the smaller glass.  But then I refill more frequently than Colin.

The rain finally stopped Tuesday but not before we saw some of that white stuff on the local hills.  We checked the weather for the first three days of travel and we will have a problem Sunday evening in Ely, Nevada.  -13C/9F is very cold.  We may just have to make it a very very long driving day by adding an extra 2 – 3 hours to our usual 7  1/2 hour drive in order to get down 2000 feet in elevation.  We only have single pane windows in the RV.  We have had our slides freeze open in Ely at lesser temps in the past.  Even Vegas is going to get very low temperatures next week.  Que Pasa?

We saw the beaver the other day and today we saw this 1980 Canadian Air Force plane being tested by KF Aerospace at the airport.  It made several passes and each time went to land but flew back up.  Most interesting. It was a Lockheed CP-140 Aurora, a maritime patrol aircraft.  We love where we live.

We packed and loaded all day long. How many shoes do I need?  About that many.  You can see my foot to the right which shows how large that bag is.  To be honest I do have a few handbags at the bottom as well and my new runners take up a good deal of space 🙂 We leave Friday morning so tomorrow is going to be a full day.

I certainly had some fun times with Mommio.

MORE GREAT PHOTOS LEADING TO MORE PRECIOUS MEMORIES. I LOVED MOMMIO’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE. I IMAGINE SHE EVENTUALLY GOT ONE ISSUED FROM THE BUREAU OF VITAL STATISTICS. REMINDED ME OF MY DAD’S WHICH WAS NOT ON BARK, BUT CARDBOARD. WHEN HE WENT TO ENLIST, THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT HIS PIECE OF CARDBOARD AND IN 1932, HE RECEIVED HIS OFFICIAL, GOVERNMENT ISSUED BIRTH CERTIFICATE. I HAD FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT THAT.

HAVE A SAFE TRIP. WE ARE ONLY GOING UP TO 83 TODAY (28. SOMETHING) DOWN TO 62 TONIGHT, JUST OVER 16C. IT’S ALL TOLERABLE.

    HUGS.

We’re heading towards Yakima and then Coos Bay Oregon on Saturday. New for us but we’ll have to dodge the California smoke and high winds. Travel is never perfect is it! Mommies was a special lady.

We are cutting our stay in Carson City short because the colder temperatures are going to hit all over. We will stay there Sunday when cold and rain is expected, which will mean snow on the pass between there and Bishop, and leave Monday when it will still be cooler but sunny, so hopefully no snow. I hope you guys are able to work your travels around the weather as well, without exhausting yourselves. Right now we are in Bend with the windows open and t-shirts on at 6:00 p.m., we have had great weather so far.

I think those two wine glasses are an optical illusion. I think the two bowls are the same size; it’s just the shorter stem that makes that one seem smaller.
