Horses and turtles on the beach

As we walked down the beach the other day for our morning walk, we were approached by the horses.

They walked right around us. The girls remained silent.

I really have never been this close to horses.

This one did not want to leave me. As you can see the others have gone ahead long ago.

Shortly after the horses had passed we saw tracks in the sand.

Then with the help of the horseman, we found a turtle nest. They had all hatched and were gone.

Further down the beach, we found more turtle tracks. Those are the ones on the right, the middle tracks are crabs and the ones on the left are mixed.. As it turns out, 5 nests had hatched that night/day.

Several of the RVers had gone golfing early that morning and came across the turtles crossing from the berm all across the sand to the water.  The fellows stopped and helped some of the turtles into the water,  I understand that Robin actually put some into his Jeep and drove them down the beach aways, closer to the water as they were going in the wrong direction, up into the grasses.  He was saving them from the frigate birds.  Thankfully he rescued several turtles.  Colin and I came along about an hour and a bit later.

We saw two baby turtles, stragglers, close to the shore….struggling in the increasing heat due to the rising sun.

The first one was able to slip into the water but this little one was struggling.

We waited and watched but it seemed to be losing energy. Our dogs were so good and kept their distance with only a word from us. We have been a part of many turtle releases while in Acapulco in years past and so it seemed natural for Colin to pick this little one up and place it in the ocean.

Carmeh quietly watched the beginning of its journey. See how her paw is up in the air. I was amazed at how gentle she was. The girls do hunt crabs but did respect the turtle.

Adios little one. May we see you here on the Isla beach in the years to come when yo return to lay your eggs.

The 5C's bid you adieu and good luck.

A warm adieu to our horses as well.

Does not all of the above make a day beyond perfect?  Be honest!  Of course it does.  But then last night, we experienced perfection!!!!!!!!!

Great pictures of horses, turtles, your babies and the sunset. How do the Girls react to the saltwater on their skin or do you bathe or rinse them off after being in the ocean?

When we were at Juno Beach FL recently, we visited the Loggerhead MarineLife Center. They do a wonderful job of rescuing sea turtles. My family adopted Marvin as one of my Christmas gifts. So nice of you and your friends helping the little ones. What a great way to spend time on the beach enjoying the animal life!

A bra would make your clothes fit better! Just an idea.

I’m sure that the gray horse next to you, Contessa, was saying “take me home with you.”
Got room in your RV for the trip home?

Loved the greenpeace pics, have seen it but now husband and I arguing as to where we were! Narrowed it down to Turkey, Spain, Malta or even at home (UK)! It has got our brains working anyway!
