MAMMOGRAMS !

This is a public service announcement.

When was the last time you had a mammogram?

I had mine a few days ago, it was totally painless and I had a wonderful conversation with the nurse during the procedure.

This small poster was in the room!

The photo really says it all.  Get a mammogram.  I have a friend who had her routine 2 year mammogram done the end of April and they called her back for a biopsy.  Of course she was devastated and worried.  The results came, no problems what so ever.  Relief!  Better to be safe then the alternative.

I agree “better to be safe then the alternative”, I plan on getting a full check up before I move south so that I can be current and don’t have to worry about it for a while once I’m down there.

Had mine done two years ago. Will probably have to have another one this year or next. I have to make an appointment for a physical for August or September. As you say, better safe than sorry. My Mum always said she had to go and get her boobs squished. I always thought that was funny!

Yep, time for mine, too. I have a physical in two weeks so I’ll get one shortly thereafter. A girl at work is going through radiation from breast cancer and she is really pushing us to stay up on our mammograms!

I had one here in Mazatlán a couple of months ago and they gave also a complimentary breast ultrasound. The whole process cost $800 pesos, or about $75 US. Plus I was given the films and the radiologist’s report as my own property.

Trinidad, if you do it before you come see if you can get your films to bring with you so next time they can compare. I wish I had requested mine before we moved.

Nancy, great advice! Actually for all the American RVers who travel to Mexico and can’t afford to get a mammogram in the USA this would perhaps be more economical.

Trinidad, be sure to get copies of all your medical records as Nancy suggested.

Ruth, a nice memory of your Mom.

Marty, good for your friend and good luck to her also,

    Thanks Contessa,

What a great reminder to every woman to have their routine mammogram. I now feel great, and blessed after my worries and will join you in going out there in the park. Enjoy each day.

Thanks for the advice Nancy and Contessa. I hadn’t thought about requesting my films but will do so on my next visit. I imagine my insurance through work will cover the Doctor visits etc but we’ll see.

p.s. Contessa – Thanks for letting me know about the comment :)
